Correspondence

Letters to Gwyneth Lewis from family, friends, literary associates, universities, and media and insurance companies concerning personal, social, literary, academic, professional and domestic matters, especially her life and work at Harvard and in New York and her travels around the United States, together with a notebook, postcards, press cuttings, photographs, leaflets, theatre programmes, student newsletters and a map of Florence; also included are a typescript transcript and offprint of an interview with Italo Calvino by Ian Thomson, some papers relating to Elin ap Hywel (including a typescript of poems by her, a typescript of poems inspired by her work, and a typescript of a short story dedicated to her), typescripts of poems by others, and some postcards relating to Gwyneth Lewis but sent between her friends.

Contributions to the journal,

Various papers, 1988-2002, relating to contributions to the New Welsh Review and items published in the journal. Included are images, poems and short stories submitted to the Review; poetry reports; the Reviews Editor's file; papers relating to an article on Shakespeare's Welsh connection; the campaign supporting R. S. Thomas's nomination for the Nobel Prize for Literature 1996; a poem by Nigel Jenkins on George Thomas, Viscount Tonypandy; and a series of articles entitled 'Welsh greats of the century'.

Contemporary poets

The file comprises papers, mostly correspondence, 1968-1969 and 1972-1973, relating to Contemporary poets of the English language (London, 1970 and 1975). Glyn Jones was an editorial consultant to the work, and recommended Anglo-Welsh poets for inclusion in the volume, as well as contributing articles on Leslie Norris and R. S. Thomas, drafts of which are included in this file. Among the correspondents are Rosalie Murphy, editor of the first edition (13), Aneirin Talfan Davies, R. George Thomas, Meic Stephens, Gerald Morgan (2), and James Vinson, editor of the second edition (4).
