Stud book and registration papers

The series comprises mixed files of letters, preparatory notes, registration forms, pedigrees, circulars, reports, minutes of meetings and accounts, used in the compilation and publication of the Welsh Hound Association stud book, 1922-1987, and a report deriving from a tour of the inspection committee, 1927, with related papers, 1926-1930. The letters and reports, in particular, provide information on the history of hound packs, the inspection procedure, the characteristics of the Welsh Hound, and the criteria for the registration of individuals in the stud book.

The series comprises letters and enclosures relating to the creation and preservation of plant and wildlife habitats from various organisations, specifically the National Trust, regarding the possible acquisition of a traditional hay meadow at Penybont, Powys, The West Wales Naturalists' Trust, mainly in connection with an appeal to to save the habitat of wild orchids, and the Wildfowl Trust, in a letter written by Peter Scott, concerning the possible creation of a wildfowl reserve on the Dovey estuary

The file comprises family and personal papers, including letters of recommendation on behalf of Duncan Campbell Lloyd Fitzwilliams, a medical student and the fifth son of Charles H. L. Fitzwilliams at Johannesburg relating to a kaross [a South African mantle or sleeveless jacket made of the skins of animals with the hair on], 1901; an ode (Welsh) written by G. Jones to Captain E. C. Lloyd Fitzwilliams of Cilgwyn on his return 'from the seat of war', 1902; typescript copies of two letters in the form of diaries from Duncan C. L. Fitzwilliams, a Red Cross surgeon in Romania, to his wife, 19 Nov.-6 Dec. 1916; and genealogical papers.
