The section comprises loose, handwritten and typed notes, notebook, binders, substantial correspondence, photographs, vegetation samples, circulars, press cuttings, maps, loose printed articles, offprints and information leaflets, accumulated during work in natural history and conservation. The material is indicative of Condry's dedicated and detailed approach to research concerning plants, birds, animals and their different habitats. It is obvious that some of the information which he gathered represented an extension of his personal interests and was used for the compilation of books and articles. -- The main subjects comprise botany, ecology, geology, zoology and the work of other naturalists, such as Evan Price Evans, Mary Richards and Evan Roberts. The papers strongly reflect the functions of Gogerddan as an agricultural and forestry estate, particularly from the mid-nineteenth century, when the recording of labour, production and accounts became more systematic. There is evidence of considerable outlay on improvements to buildings and land, particularly the enclosure and drainage of Cors Fochno (Borth Bog). The family’s interest in hunting, shooting and fishing is represented amply by the records they kept.
