(a) A Sermon in Welsh on Psalm 39, 5. A note on the back of 27 b (below) probably refers to this: 'Welsh sermon Qu ? by Richards of Coetty?'. The hand however resembles that attributed to Thomas Richards of Coychurch (see NLW MS 6518B). Repaired. (b) An account of 'Expence at the Death of Nathaniel Gamage', examined and allowed by Thomas Richards, Clerk, Rosser John, and Richard Gibbon. Torn.

Miscellanea in the autograph of Evan Evans (Ieuan Brydydd Hir) comprising: (a) A copy of the poems attributed to Taliesin entitled 'Mic Dinbych' and 'Preiddiau Annwn'. At the end Iolo Morganwg has written 'Scriptisit Evan Evans, 1783', and 'Llaw ysgrifen y parchedig Evan Evans of Ganhawdref yng Ngheredigion yw'r un uchod. Iolo Morganwg 1785'; (b) Metrical versions in Welsh of Psalms I, XLVI, CXXV ('allan o gyfieithiad Mr Ainsworth'), CXXXVIII ('wedi ei chyfieithu allan o'r Hebreaeg'), and CXXXVII ('wedi ei chymmwyso i gyflwr gwlad Gymru yn y dyddiau drwg hyn'); (c) 'Extract of a letter from Dr [John] Pettingal to Mr Tudur of Caerau near Newport Monmouthshire', endorsed by Iolo Morganwg 'Dr Pettingals Letters'. There are in reality two letters, one dated 2 May 1774 and the other dated 21 June 1775; both were written from Stoke Hamond [sic], Buckinghamshire; (d) 'An extract from Dr Mosheim's Ecclesiastical History Vol. 3, p.440'.

A volume of 'Prophecys and Promises which are written in the Old Testament which the Lord gave unto the holy Patriarks and Prophets, and to all Saints which were in the Time of the Old Testament Church which Prophecys and Promises were concerning our Lord Jesus Christ', &c. There is no indication of authorship or date, but the name of 'John Holland' occurs inside the front cover. The volume as it stands contains 90pp., numbered, but some may have been lost at the end.

A small notebook containing poetry by Rhys Morgan, David Nicholas, Lewys Hopkin, Edward Evan and James John, including 'Englynion a ganwyd i'r angau yn yr Eisteddfod a gynaliwyd yn y Cymer ymorganwg yn y flwyddyn 1735 ar ddydd gwyl ddewi'. On the outside cover is written 'Prydyddiaeth. John Jones o Aberdâr.' There is also a list of payments or receipts in the Aberdare district.

A small volume of Welsh poetry ('cerddi', 'englynion', 'tribanau') by various authors, c. 1728-47. Only the initials of the poets are given. These represented are W. R. Llancarfan [= Wiliam Robert o'r Ydwal], EW (one poem by him is dated 'Cârllydd Corphenaf y 22fed 1731'), J. L., and W. T. [?Wiliam Tomos]. There are also some anonymous pieces.
The following note occurs on p. 17: '[Bum] ynghwysanaeth Mrs White o ... oat o Fawrth yr 28fed 1726 hyd ei marwolaeth hydraf yr al 1727. Mrs Pickard o Theobalds o Chwefror y 17fed 1729 hyd Ebrill y 9fed [1]731. Mr Penrose o Ebrill y 10fed 1731 hyd ei farwolaeth ef, a blwyddyn gyda'i fam hyd Ebrill y 10fed 1745'. Two of the WR poems have been printed in Llên Cymru, III, i, pp. 47-52.

A small collection of 'cywyddau', etc., by Morgan Powel, Llewelyn Sion o Langewydd, Thomas Llewelyn, Dio Lliwel, Gryffydd Grug, Siôn Tudur, Rhys ap Harri, Sion y Cent, Thomas Sion Catti, Rhisiart Thomas 'o ben y bont', and Rhydderch Sion Llewelyn.
Also included are 'Rheolau i wybod pa wedd y molir pob peth a ddylid ei foli' and a draft invitation or summons to an Eisteddfod to be held at Llantrisant, Glamorgan, in 1771, [?possibly in the hand of Iolo Morganwg]. The final two 'englynion' on p. 14 are in the hand of Iolo Morganwg.

A Notebook containing what appears to be a letter to an unnamed correspondent, in the autograph of John Williams, St Athan. The writer begins by saying that he has received the addressee's letter, and for his own convenience in replying to it he will gather its substance under two heads: The addressee desired him (a) to write some kind of answer to the letter of 'Mr Rhywun' to 'Mr R. Jones or ysdrad ffin', and (b) to let the addressee know in his next letter who 'Mr Rhywun' is [this interpretation is disputed by the Rev. Gomer M. Roberts]. After dealing with these points the writer goes on to give a highly critical account of a Methodist meeting he happened lately to attend. The letter is in Welsh and is incomplete.

A bundle of notes (?) in the autograph of Dr J. Williams, Sydenham (see Letters to Iolo Morganwg, Nos 596-601), consisting of: (c) Questions and Answers in Latin 'De Physicâ', 'De Metaphysicâ, 'De Astronomiâ', etc.; (d) A work in four Books concerning Innate Principles, Ideas, Words or Language, Knowledge, etc. The first page is wanting, but there is a complete list of contents at the end; (e) ?Notes on Joseph Spence: Polymetis.

A bundle of notes (?) in the autograph of Dr J. Williams, Sydenham (see Letters to Iolo Morganwg, Nos 596-601), consisting of: (a) 'Extracts out of Da[cie]r and Sanedon's Horace', and (b) Annotations on Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers (Chap. 1-10 [v21]), and Matthew ('from Hammond'), Mark, and Luke (Chap. 1[v1]-[v10]).

Miscellaneous observations on: (a) Agricultural Societies; (b) Weights and Measures, being notes compiled by Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain), for Chapter XVII of his General View of the Agriculture and Domestic Economy of South Wales. At the foot of p. 1 Iolo Morganwg has written 'Glam. Agl Society, a lazy sleepy Humdrum lubbard, that does nothing at all to any valuable purpose'.

A Welsh translation of Benjamin Franklin, The Way to Wealth (1758). The initials 'W. E.' written on the cover may stand for the name of the translator. This translation does not appear to have been published. A Welsh translation [by Thomas Evans, 'Tomos Glyn Cothi'] was printed at Merthyr Tydfil in 1808, and another by Thomas Roberts, Llwynrhudol, appeared in 1839.

A Commonplace Book which belonged to William Roberts of St Athans, containing poetry (including some verses in Welsh), grammatical notes, personal memoranda, dreams, etc. Most of the dated entries range from 1743 to 1760, but there are a few earlier ones, e.g. verses 'writ at Kellyire in Carmarthinshire near Golden Grove May 1713' (if these are by William Roberts). The writer refers to his sons Christopher (Kitt or Kitty) and Jack, and to the death of his wife, Hannah, in Dec. 1760 (a Hannah Roberts was buried at St Athans on 10 Dec. 1760).

Sections of a notebook, now in a very fragile state, containing 'particulars of the shipment of goods ... out of and into the 'port' [of Aberthaw] during various periods between the years 1693-1735' (for a transcript see NLWJ, 9 (1955-56), 337-351). The notebook seems to have come into the hands of William Roberts of St Athans (op. cit., p.195), and contains in addition various accounts, 1733-1746, a few memoranda including the names of 'Rioters at Penyvode 16th Ebr. 1727', and (unless this is part of another volume) a copy of the award of the Hon. Edward Stradling of St Don[ats] Castle, Glamorgan, arbitrator in variances between Frances Howard of the parish of Lougher in the said county, relict of Stephen Howard, gent., deceased, and William Roberts of St Athan in the said county, gent., and Hannah, his wife, administrators of the estate of the said Stephen Howard, concerning the personal estate of the said Stephen Howard, and also concerning a tmt of lands with its appurtenances called Penyvoda vawr in the parishes of Lougher and Swanzey, Glamorgan, 29 Aug. 1726. It also contains Latin exercises, etc., added at a later date.

Seventeen leaves from a manuscript containing miscellaneous notes and extracts in the autograph of Lewis Morris.
There are some personal memoranda on p. 72: 'Yr amser yr eis i i Lunden oedd mai y 7ed 1723', &c. At the bottom of this page EW has written: 'Llaw Lewys Morys yw'r un uchod ond nis gwn o ba gornel o'r byd y daeth i'm llaw - odid nad dalen o rhyw a fu gennyf, ag a syrthiodd ohono'.

Miscellaneous papers partly in the autograph of Lewis Morris, sewn together in a paper cover to form one volume. The contents are: (a) Notes by Lewis Morris, Sept. 1754, on the title-page, etc., of the Latin-Welsh Dictionary of Dr Thomas Wiliems of Trefriw (Peniarth MS 228). (b) A transcript of Dr Thomas Wiliems's preface to his Dictionary. (c) 'Extracts out of a large folio pedigree book at Llannerch', pp. 910-921. (d) 'Llyma ddosbarth kerdd dant ...', 'Llyma bed[war] Mesur ar hugain cerdd dant', etc. For the latter see The Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales, Vol. III (London, 1807), p. 445. Cf. also Iolo A. Williams MSS 15, 136. (e) 'Cerdd Dannau - Extracts from an old Manuscript of Sr Wat Wms Wynne.' See op. cit., p. 625. (f) A copy of the Commission [a note subsequently added reads 'i.e. the Copy from whence this was taken'] was Copied Exactly from the Original now at Mostyn AD 1693, where the Silver Harp also is'. (g) Three sketches of John Parry's harp, 1755, together with eight lines from a cywydd 'I ofyn telyn gan Jenkin Trevor o drefalun i Sion, q. W. Lleyn' beginning, 'O untant i wythdant oedd'. (These sketches have been copied by Thomas Price, 'Carnhuanawc', into the volume which is now NLW MS 1464D. See letter from T. Price to [Taliesin Williams], 6 Feb. 1841). Iolo Morganwg has noted the contents on the cover and at the top of the first page. He has also written some observations on the pedigrees in c above.

A volume containing a translation into English in the autograph of Lewis Morris of the Preface, etc., to Dr John Davies's Dictionarium Duplex (1632), and a translation in another hand of the Preface to Dr Davies' Grammar (1621), intermingled with notes on some of Horace's Odes. There is also an 'englyn' by L[ewis] M[orris], 1738, 'Copied in Brith y Coed, Vol. I'.

(a) A notebook (32 pp.) in the autograph of Dafydd Jones o Drefriw, containing 'cywyddau' by Edmwnd Prys and Wiliam Cynwal and a brief account of the dispute between them, etc. The 'cywyddau' are numbered 1-3, 50-54, and 36. On the cover EW has written 'Fragments of Edmund Prys, & Wm Cynwal', and 'Iolo Morganwg ai piau';
(b & c) Loose papers containing a list of books, a statement of accounts between David Jones and Richard Lathrop, a draft title-page for 'Y Greal Bychan', and poetry by RT, etc.

Letters from Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, 1641, William Jones, 1698, John Roberts, Bridgwater, 1737-1738, and Dafydd Jones o Drefriw, 1758, and poetry by, and in the autograph of, Edward Richard, Ystrad-meurig, John Edwards, 'Siôn Ceiriog', and John Williams, St Athan.
The details are as follows: (a) A letter, 10 Nov. 1641, from John Davies, Malloyd, to an unnamed correspondent concerning the Rolls of Mowthwy for the poll money. He finds that many are left out: giving such (names) as he did know or could learn to be so. He will be glad if he can get a place for the addressee's kinsman, Mr Gwyn. Damaged. (b) A letter, 29 Oct. [16]98, from Wm Jones, Dôlgu [? Dolgelheu], 'For Mr Edward Lhwyd to be left with Mr Thomas Francis painter at Montgomery'. In his way to Dolgelheu the writer waited on Mr Vaughan at Aberffrwdlan on Sunday last, 'who having read but ye 2 first lines of your letter was very much displeas'd you should mention in yours yt you sent me to transcribe those Manuscripts he promised ye persual of...'. Mention of Mr Parry and Mr Jn Pugh, Mr Jones, etc. Their quarters at Dolgelheu. Various items of news. Damaged. (c, d, e) Letters (three, two dated and one fragmentary, all damaged), 1737-1738, from J. Roberts, Bridgwater, to his kinsman, Wm Roberts, St Athans concerning their right to Justings [?Iestyn's] coat of arms and pedigree, etc. The first letter is written from London, where J. Roberts is giving his sons a visit by their request. (f) A letter, 20 Oct. 1758, from Dafydd Jones, Mwythig, to his wife, (Gwen). He has been to see Evan Evans, Denbigh, and Mr Wynn, Llangynhafal, both of whom are ill. Next day he went to Wrexham and at last found Wm Robert. He arrived at Shrewsbury on Wednesday afternoon: Mr Stafford Price and the Blodeugerdd, which they began to print on the 18th inst. If Mr Williams goes to Lincoln he would be glad to see him going via Shrewsbury home. On the dorse is an 'englyn' in which his six children are named. Reference to other members of the family. Welsh. (g) 'Bugeilgerdd, sef Ymddiddan rhwng dau fugail, Gruffudd a Meurig bob yn ail Benill', by, and in the autograph of, Edward Richard, Ystradmeurig, 1 Jan. 1766. To the title EW has added 'collated with another copy written by the author. per Iolo Morganwg'. (h, i) 'Cerddi' by, and in the autograph of, John Edwards, 'Siôn Ceiriog'. (j) 'Rybydd i Mr Edward Williams Saer Maen, rag shomi Baal wrth Gywirio r Grisau sy'n arwain iw ei Dy,' addressed to Mr Edward Williams, Fleminston, and endorsed by Iolo Morganwg 'Sion William o St Athan at E. Wm yr hynaf o Drefflemin'.

A fragment of a Greek Grammar in Welsh, with part of a Welsh-Greek vocabulary, R-S. This is probably the manuscript described by Iolo Morganwg as 'Darn o Ramadeg Groeg yn yr Iaith Gymraeg' (see G. J. Williams, Iolo Morganwg a Chywyddau'r Ychwanegiad, (1926), p. 176, item 31).
