Travels in Scotland and the north of England; diary extracts,

A note book containing an account of a visit to Edinburgh and of a journey thence southward into England through Haddington, Dunbar, Prest, Berwick, Belford, Alnwick, Morpeth, Newcastle, Durham, Darlington, Northallerton, Rippon, Harrogate and Leeds as far as Halifax, in May and June 1775. The writer describes various places of interest which he had visited including Holyrood House, Alnwick Castle, Rippon Cathedral, and Fountains Abbey, and comments on industrial activity and other features which had drawn his attention in the towns and villages en route. Included also are extracts covering the period 1768-1838 made by ? H[ephzibah] E[mma] Howard 'out of a Diary of Mr. Rob[er]t Wynne of Garthewin'. These contain frequent references to members of the Griffith family of Carreglwyd, Anglesey, and of the Lloyd family of Hafodunos and its related families of Clough, Conway, etc.

Wigfair accounts,

An account of the rents received annually from the tenants of the Wickwer [sic] estate, and of other incidental sums received on behalf of John Lloyd during the period 1728-1742 by his mother [Phoebe Lloyd of Hafodunos and Wigfair]. At the end of the account is a note dated 9 November 1751, whereby John Lloyd grants his mother a discharge in respect of the sums received on his behalf.

A collection consisting mainly of the manuscripts, correspondence and other papers, [16 cent., second ½]-[1909x1925], of the Lloyd family of Hafodunos, Denbighshire and Wigfair, Flintshire, including a considerable amount of correspondence to and from John Lloyd ('The Philosopher'), one of the most notable members of the family. The collection also includes correspondence of members of the Wynn family of Gwydir, the Clough family of Plas Clough and Hafodunos, the Holland family of Berw, the families of Carreglwyd, and the Rev. Richard Howard, Denbigh (matters relating to lead, iron and mineral resources in Flintshire); together with Hafodunos and Wigfair rentals and accounts and accounts relating to lead and copper mines in North Wales.

Wigfair rents,

An account of rents received, 1727-1748, from the tenants of Wickwer demesne and of other tenements and lands on the Wickwer estate. Loose papers inserted in the volume include a translation into English of Horace, Ode XXXVII (Book I), a letter from Will[ia]m Williams from Llanrwst, to John Lloyd at Havodunos, 17 September 1751, enclosing an account of sums due to the writer (endorsed with a receipt), and a letter from R. Lloyd from Cefn, to . . ., 8 March 1768, concerning arrangements to pay rent.

Wigfair rents,

An account of rents, etc., received annually from the tenants of John Lloyd [of Wigfair] to his use during the period 1728-1742. For the years 1728-1733 a note is also made of the total amount expended each year on behalf of 'Jacky Lloyd'. The receipts recorded in this volume correspond, almost item for item, to those contained in the account rendered in the preceding manuscript NLW MS 12486.
