A notebook of W. J. Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd'), containing an incomplete adjudication on 'pryddestau' on 'Ofergoeledd', transcripts and drafts of poetry including 'Clogyrnau ir Daran' submitted for competition at Gyfallwy Eisteddfod, 1855, and accounts.

A manuscript consisting largely of transcripts and memoranda by Mary Richards and Thomas Richards of Darowen. The volume appears originally to have been used as an account book of receipts and disbursements in respect of the farms of Llwyn, Cafnmaelen and Byrthlwydd [parish of Dolgellau, Merioneth], 1799-1802, and also to record biographies of [James Crichton, 'The Admirable'], Sir Francis Walsingham, Sir Francis Drake and William Cecil, Lord Burghley. Mrs Watkins' father, Mr Morgan 'o Lanfread' is stated to have been a friend of Lewis Morris); 'Grwgnachrwydd yr Oes. A composite volume of poetry in strict and free metre by various poets including Mabclaf ab Llywarch, Aneirin Gwawdrwydd [sic], Evan Evans ('Ieuan Brydydd Hir'), [Robert Williams] 'Robert ab Gwilym Ddu', [David Owen] 'Dewi Wyn', [Griffith Williams] 'Gyttun Peris', [Richard Jones] 'Gwyndaf Eryri', [William Edwards] 'Gwilym Padarn', [Owen Williams] 'Owain Gwyrfai', [Evan Prichard] 'Ieuan Lleyn', [David Thomas] 'D[afydd] Ddu o Eryri', John Davies and Michael Prichard. The contents also include a list headed 'The Names of some of the most Ancient Bards and Historians and the Time wherein [sic] they Flourished'. The lettering on the spine reads 'Llyfr Ieuan Lleyn, 1799' and the volume, except for the last five folios, appears to have been written between 1799 and 1822. The last four folios are partly in the hand of D. Silvan Evans and the folio immediately preceding them is probably earlier in date than 1799 and may belong to Cwrtmawr MS 513B, Part II.

A volume containing some 'penillion' and, at the other end and largely in a different hand, late eighteenth and early nineteenth century English poetry ('On the death of Cromwell', 'On the death of Admiral Lord Nelson', etc.). Some of the English poems are signed 'J.M.' There is also an 'englyn', in yet another hand, by Catrin Morgan. Watermark: 1813.

A late eighteenth century manuscript in the hand of John Morris containing a collection of 'carolau' and 'cerddi' by Jonathan Hughes, Llangollen, together with a 'cerdd' and a 'carol' by Daniel Jones, and a carol each by Jo[h]n Edw[ard]s (Glyn Cei[rio]g) and Arthur Jones. All the poems by Jonathan Hughes are included in the author's Bardd a Byrddau (y Mwythig, 1778). At the beginning of the volume is 'Bannau yr llyfyr hwn', being a table of titles and first lines, and the numbers of verses, of each carol. Paste-downs on the inside upper and lower covers contain a note and an 'englyn' by D[afydd] M[orris], Llanfair [Caereinion], 1868, etc.

A notebook of John Thomas [? of Cwm Sidan Fawr, Llansadwrn, Carmarthenshire] containing lists of preachers and their texts at [Calvinistic Methodist] Association meetings at Blaenafon, 1827, Llangeitho, 1829, Aberystwyth, 1830, and elsewhere; unidentified church accounts (members' contributions, bread and wine accounts, etc.) [?1832]; farming memoranda (dates of servicing of cows, etc.), 1830-5; and scraps of verse.

A notebook in the hand of J. H. Davies, Lincoln College, Oxford, March 1892, containing 'penillion' extracted from printed sources ('Jones' Musical Relics, Ysten Sioned, Ceiriog, Mynyddog, Alun, Talhaiarn, Cymry Fu, ... Brython 1859, 255, 288'). The 'penillion' are numbered (1-464) and an alphabetical index of first lines, or first part of lines, is appended.
