Wynn of Gwydir papers (Sir John Williams Group),

The papers in this Sir John Williams group of Wynn of Gwydir papers were arranged into chronological order, numbered in conjuction with related papers in other collections, and catalogued in the printed 'Calendar of Wynn (of Gwydir) papers' (NLW, 1926). Gaps in the sequence of numbered items in this group represent papers in those other collections. The list of corringenda in the printed calendar have been incorporated into the current catalogue, including a few assigned dates that were found to be wrong as a result of further research; as a result of correcting these dates, a number of items (eg, NLW MSS 1655 and 2672) are now out of chronological position. The papers in the Sir John Williams group are numbered 2-2833 (passim). The main series of papers have been bound as NLW MSS 464-469E, while MS 463B and MS 470E are individual items (numbers 94 and 2796) that have been bound separately. The papers should be ordered by their NLW MS volume number, although, as they have been microfilmed, they will normally be issued to readers as films: NLW MSS 463-465 (NLW Film 1030), 466-467 (1031), 468-470 (1032). The papers may be referred to either by their calendar reference, e.g. Wynn of Gwydir 17, or by their volume and item number, NLW MS 464E/17.

Wynn of Gwydir papers (photostat facsimilies)

Photostat copies of twenty three letters and papers relating to Wynn of Gwydir, assembled from various sources: The originals of some of these items are among the Sir John Williams and Panton groups of Wynn of Gwydir papers (NLW MSS 463-470 and 9051-9069 respectively), and other collections at NLW; others are copies of originals and transcripts that were in the possession of Mrs Alan Gough of Gelliwig in 1926 - some at least of these may now be among the NLW's Pennant Estate Records deposited by her in 1941 (preliminarily catalogued as the Gough deeds and documents); and six items are copies of originals among the Cardiff MSS, held in Cardiff Public Library. Many of the Cardiff MSS have been microfilmed, and copies of the films are held by NLW; please consult the list of Cardff MSS among the NLW Films.
The items within the volume have not been bound in perfect chronological order.
