The file comprises a leather pocket wallet with the letters 'O.M.E.' embossed in gold, and containing a small notebook marked, 'Hav Edwards, Form II' bearing a few notes on various academic subjects.

Album bound in black leather with gold tooling and slightly damaged. Includes commercially and privately produced photographs, many of Lancaster and the north west of England. Of particular note are images of the Yarlside Iron Mines, street scenes in Preston (Lancashire), Lancaster Quay Commissioners trip 188-, River Thames after a University boat race, numerous views of Downing Hall, Flintshire and grounds, some being snowscenes.

Pel Droed

Mainly portraits of Welsh professional soccer players. Also included are team photos of Swansea City, Cardiff City and Wrexham and press photos of various top flight and international games. Most are annotated on the reverse. Most are the work of Press Agencies and local / regional newspapers.

Gareth Vaughan Jones Negatives

A number of negatives in different formats but mostly c. 45 x 38 mm. Earlier, larger format negatives appear to be family snapshots, whilst the majority are views of the Far East in the early - mid 1930s. Some further identification may be possible by reference to the processing envelopes used to store the negatives.

[Mongolia & China]

Photographs believed to have been taken by Gareth Vaughan Jones in summer 1935. Most are of Mongolia, many being of The Great Mongolian Festival of the Princes at the Court of Prince Teh Wang. These show many of the tribesmen and their lifestyles. Included are a number of Prince Teh Wang (aka Prince Demchugdongrub), Mongolian military leader and his family; also Chinese General Tsai Ting Kai (aka Cai Tingkai). Some are annotated on the reverse. Included are pictures of monks, sacrificing of sheep, inside and outside yurts, wrestling etc.

A variety of modern photographs connected with Gareth Vaughan Jones. These include a trip by Edward David to the place of GVJ's assassination ca.2005; copies of old postcards and family photographs; Chinese artefacts; Soviet propoganda posters from the 1930s brought home by GVJ.
