A collecting book used in 1839 on behalf of 'The Baptist Church Meeting, in Great Crosshall Street, in Liverpool' and containing a few sermon notes; 'Y perygl o ddirmygu gweinidogaeth yr efengyl'; a draft of an application, written in 1817 by Daniel Jones, of Erryd in the parish of Kilcwm, to the justices for the County of Carmarthen and the Clerk of the Peace for certification of the dwelling house of Ann [sic, ? Mary] Rice in Stone Street, Llandovery, as a place for religious worship; sermon notes; etc.

Christmas Evans

A small notebook kept by Christmas Evans (1766-1838), Baptist minister. Described on the inside of the front cover as 'Llyfr yn Cynhwys cyfrif o'r gasgl a ddygwyd ymlaen trwy y Deheudir gan C[hristmas] E[vans] a J[ohn] R[oberts] yn y flwyddyn 1815 [?]', the volume contains a copy of a resolution passed at a meeting in Llanerchymedd, November 14, 1815, relating to sums collected and expended by Christmas Evans in both North and South Wales, together with sermons and notes.

Sermons and notes

A notebook, 1835-1846, of William Roberts ('Nefydd') containing one sermon in English (ff. 1-10), sermon notes in Welsh (ff. 15v-19), and miscellaneous accounts and memoranda. The inside front cover is inscribed 'William Roberts's Book, January 20th 1835'.

Sermons, etc.,

A volume of sermons and memoranda in English together with transcripts of a few items of poetry by Francis Quarles. The sermons are in the hand of the Reverend Griffith Evans who was vicar of Llandrillo-yn- Rhos (1693-1695) and afterwards vicar of Tremeirchion (1695-1737), and they appear to have been preached by him at Llandrillo and Tremeirchion. The poems by Quarles are to be found among the Emblemes.

Poetry,

A manuscript containing Welsh poetry, including the work of Edmwnd Prys, Sion Brwynog, Guto'r Glyn, Sion Phylip, Sion Tudur, Taliesin, Iolo Goch and others. Pp. 7-58, 61-66, 171-210 are in the hand of Roger Williams, assistant to Bishop William Morgan (1545-1604); pp. 131-137 are in the hand of Dr John David Rhys; and pp. 67-112, 139-152 are in the hand of John Powel of Talgarth, Breconshire (see pp. 67, 139; see also Peniarth MSS 27 and 45). P. 58 contains a note, 1611, in the hand of Roger Williams concerning 'the fees that goeth vpon any person in suinge owt his lyveryes', and on p. 61 is a note, 1617, in the same hand concerning the 'benefactors of the Cathedrall church of Landaphe'. Also included in the manuscript is a sermon 'in praise of theves' (p. 197), triads (pp. 200-201) and medical and veterinary recipes (pp. 199, 210b).

Sermons and addresses,

A number of sermons and addresses mainly in English and in the hand of the Reverend John Roberts, Llanbrynmair, with a children's address, n.d., by the Reverend Samuel Roberts ('S.R.'), and two items in Welsh, one unidentified (part torn away), the other an outline of a sermon in the hand of [the Reverend David Williams, Troedrhiwdalar] marked (probably by 'S.R.') 'Hen Williams Llanwrtyd fu farw yn 95 oed'. There are two addresses, undated, by the Reverend John Roberts in connection with the British and Foreign Bible Society, one on the occasion of the formation of the Montgomery[shire] Bible Society, and with these are observations in Welsh beginning 'Mae Mr. Jones yn gosod (?) bau nid bychain [sic] yn fy erbyn i am brodyr am ein bod medd ef wedi ymadael ag egwyddorion ein Tadau'. One of the sermons by John Roberts is headed 'Missionary Sermon May 5th 1799' (marked by 'S.R.' 'copied for Cronicl'), another is headed 'Christmas Day 1798', and a third 'Elizabeth Jones Bellan funeral sermon May 27th 1798'.

Pregethau

'Special sermons of the late Rev. John Davies, congregational minister of the Welsh Churches at Glandwr and Moriah, in the Pembrokeshire Association of Churches. These sermons were preached on special occasions, and were selected out of his manuscripts by the Rev. J. Lloyd James, once a private pupil of the author, and to whom he was indebted, in early life, for lessons in Greek and Latin; hence the interest he took in his manuscripts, and copied all he could with a view to their preservation.
