Gramadeg Cymraeg,

Bardic grammar, beginning ‘Llyma ddosbarth Edern dafod aur’ (pp. 5-131). On its texts, very close to those of Wiliam Cynwal in Cardiff MS 1.16, see Gramadegau’r Penceirddiaid, eds G.J. Williams and E.J. Jones (Caerdydd, 1934), p. liii and pp. 183-4. All in the formal secretary hand of David Powel with display in fere-textura; a few notes (e.g. pp. 52, 92, 107) are in his characteristic italic.

Cerddi serch,

A collection, second quarter of the 16th century, of love poems of various poets, including Dafydd ap Gwilym, Bedo Brwynllys, Robin Ddu and Tudur Aled.
Pp. 163-4 and 217-8 are later insertions.

The Oration of Gwgan,

A late 16th century manuscript in the hand of Owen John (p. 15) comprising The Oration of Gwgan and religious and moral poetry in the form of interludes.

Llyfr Calan,

A volume dating from the 1470s comprising a version of the Laws of Hywel Dda; a calendar of feasts and saints' days; and cywyddau written by Lewis Glyn Cothi.
The last few pages are in another hand.

Gwasanaeth y Wynfidedig Fair,

A mid-15th century manuscript comprising the Office of the Blessed Virgin; prayers; Y Groglith; Ystoria y Grog o Hynt Elen i Gaersalem; and a Calendar.
Pp. 5-10, 61-2 are in the hand of W. W. E. Wynne, Esq. of Peniarth.

Llyfr Syr Thomas Wiliems,

A collection of materials for the making of a Welsh Dictionary, including vocabularies; glosses; poetry; quotations from poetry, the Welsh Laws and the Romances; proverbs; and a list of words borrowed from Latin.

Y Lucidar,

An early 15th century manuscript comprising Lucidar; Kyssegr Lan Fuchedd; the Penityas; and Cyffes y Pechadur, written in a hand which is similar to that of the Mabinogion in the Red Book of Hergest.

Gwehelyth,

A mid-16th century manuscript comprising pedigrees and notes concerning pedigrees; notes on grammar; lists of words; and poetry.
The notes relating to pedigrees may be in the hand of Gruffudd Hiraethog.

Barddoniaeth,

Poems of Dafydd Epynt, Huw Cae Llwyd, Rhys Brychan and others in several hands, including those of Huw Cae Llwyd and Dafydd Epynt, c. 1500.
A vocabulary is included (p. 199).

Ystoria Charlymaen, &c.,

The Romance of Charlemagne written down by [?Gruffudd Ddu] in the mid 14th century; and a collection of poetry of Gruffudd ap yr Ynad Coch, Guto'r Glyn and others compiled in the 15th - 16th centuries.
The first folios include fragments of indentures and on f. 26b is a representation of Christ on the Cross.

Barddoniaeth,

A manuscript in the hand of a single scribe, [c. 1621], comprising religious and secular poetry of Guto'r Glyn, Siôn Tudur, Edmwnd Prys and others; an interlude of the Passion; and the Statute of Gruffudd ap Cynan.
Also included is a poem composed by Hywel Bangor for an Eisteddfod in 1577.

Llyfr Du'r Waun,

The oldest Welsh text of the Laws of Hywel Dda by two hands dating from the mid-13th century.
There is also a contemporary elegy to Llywelyn ap Gruffydd in a later hand, and a series of provebs, also in a later hand.

Interliwt Troilus a Cresida,

An interlude in Welsh of Troilus and Cressida, based on Chaucer's text and in the hand of John Jones, Gellilyfdy. Pp. 1-135 were written before 14th February 1613 (p. 119) and the remainder of the manuscript was written in 1622 (pp. 160, 231).
