Papers of Joseph Francis

The file comprises financial papers of Joseph Francis, F. E. Llewellyn Jones's grandfather, including bank books and receipts, an inventory of livestock at Blackmoor Farm, Abbeydore, Herefordshire, 1914, together with a school exercise book when he was a pupil at Cwm-du National School, Breconshire [c. 1865].

The file contains papers of F. E. Llewellyn Jones's, grandfather, Thomas Francis of Blackmoore Farm, Abbeydore, Herefordshire, mainly probate, executorship and death duty papers, and accounts of his father Phillip Francis of Coity Mawr, Llanfeugan, Breconshire, farmer, who died in 1851. It also includes an agreement for letting Blackmoore Farm, and authority for his wife to continue farming.

The series comprises letters to the Rev. Jones from various correspondents. The letters relate to his ministry, enquiries regarding the Catholic Church, personal medical matters, letters from family and friends, information about properties for sale (mostly farms), financial investments, etc. There are also five letters in his own hand.
