Antiquarian interests: letters

This series comprises letters written to F. E. Llewellyn Jones answering his various enquiries, mostly into aspects of Welsh pedigrees, genealogy and history. There are also a few letters reflecting his interest in botany, conservation, linguistics, philology, the origin of Welsh words and place names, and aspects of the Catholic faith. Correspondents include public record offices, libraries, museums, universities, etc., and many individuals the most notable being Dr Michael Powell Siddons and Dr E. D. Jones, who were personally acquainted with F. E. Llewellyn Jones.

Antiquarian interests: notes

The series comprises notes on a variety of topics including theological matters, antiquities, local history and genealogy. There are also vocabularies, mainly in Welsh, newspaper cuttings, pamphlets and programmes.

Mrs Catherine Whitney

The group comprises letters, many written during periods of hospitalisation, and reflect the mundane existence of long term patients. Some letters reflect her interests in antiquarian subjects.

Letters to Mrs Catherine Whitney

This series comprises letters written mostly by friends and acquaintances whilst she was in hospital at Hereford, including many letters written to her by the Rev. F. E. Llewellyn Jones. There are three letters relating to her enquiries into the meaning of Welsh place-names with a notable contribution from Prof. Melville Richards, UCNW Bangor, and two letters connected with the research and publication of her article 'Notes Concerning Gypsies'.

Letters from Mrs Catherine Whitney

This series contains letters written by Mrs Whitney to the Rev. F. E. Llewellyn Jones. Most were written from hospital at Hereford between 1966 and 1972. Other letters were written during her holidays or recuperative periods at Blackpool, 1962, 1963, Weston-Super-Mare, 1964, 1966, and Aberystwyth, 1965, 1970.

Legal and financial papers

F. E. Llewellyn Jones, from a comparatively early age, had been actively involved in investing his capital, as well as lending money to other parties: this group reflect those interests. It also includes papers relating to his dealings with banks, insurance companies and other businesses, his taxation records and pension arrangements.

Barclays Bank: statements

This series comprises an incomplete run of bank statements, 1959-1977, relating to two accounts held under the name of F. H. E. B. H. H. Llewellyn Jones at the Hereford branch of Barclays Bank. There is no indication as to what these initials represent and they only appear in connection with this bank account.
