Some of the poems are in the hand of the compiler but the majority are in the form of cuttings, largely of the second and third quarters of the nineteenth century, with annotations from Y Drysorfa, Trysorfa y Plant, Y Gwyliedydd, [Y Tyst Apostolaidd], Yr Herald Cymraeg, Y Gwladgarwr, Yr Arweinydd, Y Greal [Llangollen], Y Dysgedydd, Taliesin, Goleuad Cymru, Baner ac Amserau Cymru, Y Cymro, Yr Anybynwr, Seren Gomer, Y Drych, etc. The spine is lettered 'Gweithiau Beirdd Lleyn ac Eifionydd'.

A scrap-book of press cuttings of Cardiganshire interest. The titles include 'Y Parch. Phiup [sic] Pugh a'i Amserau' (attributed in the hand of J. H. Davies to D. Worthington, with the comment that 'This article is wrong in nearly every detail'), 'Some Old Records of Cardiganshire', 'Cymru Fu' ('Grand Jurors for 1732', 'An old Revenue Conflict in Cardiganshire', 'Old Welsh Ballads', 'Extracts from Gaol Files', 'The First Press in Wales', and 'The Manor of Perfedd...'), 'Glimpses of Aberystwyth in Shakespeare's Time' by E. A. L. [i.e. Professor E. A. Lewis, University of Wales, Aberystwyth], 'Fifty Years of the 'Cambrian News', Welsh Journalist's Reminiscenses' by W. R. H. A scrap-book inferentially compiled by John Lloyd Jones ('Clwydwenfro'; 1835-1919) containing press cuttings and a few manuscript items. Some of the cuttings are dated within the 1850s-1870s and among the more interesting titles are 'Hynodion Cwm Rhondda .... Testyn Cystadleuol Eisteddfod y Porth, Nadolig, 1861'; 'Collegiate and University Education in Wales'; 'Llythyr oddiwrth y Parch. Morris Phillips, Cenhadwr i India'; 'Teyrnged i Goffadwriaeth Ioan Pedr'; 'Beirniadaeth ar Gyfansoddiadau Barddonol Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Aberdar, Awst 1861'; 'Llangollen Great National Eisteddfod' [1858]; 'Y Ffrwydriad yn Abercarn'; 'Sketches of Cardiff Preachers'; etc. The manuscript material comprises a tale entitled 'The Bride of Santa Croce', 19 November 1856, described in an annotation by J. Ll. James as 'the composition of the late John Griffith Davies (son of the Rev. J. Davies ['Siôn Gymro'], Glandwr, Pembrokeshire) who wrote it and sent it to John Lloyd James, then a student at Carmarthen College, that he might fill up the outline', and verses entitled 'Y Messiah', etc. addressed to John Ll. James, Berllandawel, Llanglwydwen and annotated in the latter's hand 'J. G. Davies, Yetwen, pan yn Narberth', etc. The outer upper cover is inscribed, in the hand of J. H. Davies, 'Articles and poetry from Cyfaill y Werin and other papers'.

A mutilated scrapbook of Ellen Evans containing two poems, one of which is signed 'L.E.L., G.A.B., 1838'; English translations of a Welsh couplet by Evan Evans ('Ieuan Fardd'), made at Llanarmon-in-Yale Vicarage, 1846, by E[van] Evans, vicar of Llanarmon-in-Yale, T. Brown, curate of Llanferres, and Hugh E. Heaton, assistant curate of Mold; and a pencil drawing of the 'H[olyhead?] C[ompany's?] P[rivate?] V[essel?] Magna' preparing to take the pilot out of an outward bound barque.
