Schedule of Brogyntyn estate deeds

A volume containing a schedule compiled, [early 1820s] (Watermark 1820), with additions and notes, [c. 1844]-[c. 1869], in the hand of W. W. E. Wynne, Peniarth, of the title deeds, 1283-1842, of the Brogyntyn estate, relating to properties in Merionethshire (ff. 1-34 verso), Caernarvonshire (ff. 39 verso-64 verso), Shropshire (ff. 70 verso-101 verso), Denbighshire (ff. 107-112 verso), Montgomeryshire (ff. 119-122 verso) and Cornwall (f. 123 verso), and of wills, 1540-1774, relating to Merionethshire, Caernarvonshire, Shropshire, Denbighshire and Flintshire (ff. 130-138).
Papers found loose in the volume have been tipped in on ff. 139-144.

The correspondents include Charles I, Princes Rupert and Maurice, Gilbert Byron, John Byron, Robert Corbett (Ynysymaengwyn), H. Mackworth, Thomas Mytton, William Neale, Richard Vaughan and John Williams, archbishop of York. Also included are notes by W. W. E. Historical and antiquarian extracts, lists and notes,

Extracts from published sources, lists, notes, etc., relating to various historical and antiquarian subjects, [1656], 1693, [1761], [late 19 cent.]. Original material includes a description, dated 1795, of how the predecessors of the Tanat family were awarded the Broniarth charter in return for the capture of Lord Cobham in 1417; and substantial annotations by W.W.E. Wynne to a list of Caernarfonshire sheriffs, with a covering letter and genealogical enquiry to William Ormsby-Gore, 1832. Also of interest is a roll of casualties in Major Bringhurst 's troop at Waterloo, 1815.

Sheriffs of North Wales,

Lists of the high sheriffs of Anglesey, Caernarvonshire, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Merionethshire and Montgomeryshire taken from Y Gwyliedydd, with other manuscript lists and notes by W. W. E. Wynne, and a list of Denbighshire sheriffs written in 1595 and continued to 1601. Also included are a form of sheriff's patent for Rhys Milton, Merionethshire, drawn at Westminster, 29 January 1547; a licence, 20 May 1530, granted to 'Mredd. ap Hulkin Loid' to build a water mill at Dinlle; and a copy of letters patent drawn at Westminster appointing Rhys Vaughan Sheriff of Merionethshire, 27 November 1547.
