A composite manuscript volume lettered on the spine 'MSS. Collections Relative to Wales, II', being a companion volume to, and a continuation of, NLW MS 6209E, which is also a composite manuscript (sections numbered I-XIII) bound in a similar manner and lettered on the spine 'MSS. Collections Relative to Wales, I'. It appears that the two volumes originally formed one folio manuscript belonging to Edward Lhuyd made up of transcripts by his assistants, contributions by Henry Rowlands and Hugh Thomas, and fragments of earlier manuscripts (see pp. 14-15 of NLW MS 13918F, 'Catalogue of Welsh M.S.S. in Beechwood Library by the Reverend Mr John Jones [?1746-1827] M.A. Fellow of Jesus College Oxon, 1781', i.e. part of the Sebright collection. A negative photostat facsimile of Welsh MS. 2 in the John Rylands Library, Manchester, being an incomplete early eighteenth century collection of poetry, largely in the form of 'cywyddau', by Sion Philip, Rhisiart Philip, Edmund Price [sic], William Cynwal, Evan Bry[dy]dd hir, Lewis Môn, Sion Cent, Tudyr Aled, David ap Gwillim [sic], David Nanmor [sic] and others. On p. 76 is a text of 'Brenin dlysau ynys Brydai[n]'. Later eighteenth century additions include a certificate of a declaration of an oath by Edd. Vaughan of Lanymowddy, Merioneth, 2 November, 1750, that a red heifer sold at Dinnas Mowddy and the herd from which it is taken are free from the infection now raging among horned cattle in the Kingdom.

An imperfect manuscript: of the original manuscript (see note on number of folios) thirty-two folios at the beginning (as per a previous foliation ) ? containing poems numbered 1-28 and part of poem 29, numerous mid- volume folios, and an indeterminate number of folios at the end appear to have been lost. pp. 1-178 (excepting p. 176 and later insertions) are in the hand of the Glamorgan poet and copyist Llywelyn Siôn, the scribe of NLW MSS 970E, 6511B, and 13075-13076B (see TLLM, tt. 157-60). The greater part of the remainder of the volume appears to be in a later seventeenth century hand or hands. The contents consist of transcripts of Welsh poems in free and strict metres, the free-metre verse being largely in the form of 'cwndidau' (see TLLM, tt. 120-43). Included is a corpus of poems by the sixteenth century Glamorgan poets Thomas ap Ieuan ap Rys (25) and Hopgin Thom[as] Phylip (22). A composite volume containing miscellaneous historical and literary material in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'). Pp. 24-36 contain a transcript of a version of the medieval Welsh Chronicle of the Princes associated with the name of the fifteenth century poet and genealogist Ieuan Brechfa with the title or superscription 'Brut y Tywysogion . . . a dynnwyd o Lyfrau Caradawc Llancarfan ac eraill o hen Lyfrau Cyfarwyddyd a ysgrifenodd Ieuan Brechfa'. The transcript was allegedly made by Edward Williams from a volume in the possession of Rhys Thomas, printer, of Cowbridge, and the text was published in The Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales, vol. II, 1801, pp. 470-565 (bottom section of pages). Pp. 37-135 contain one of the two known reputed transcripts by Edward Williams of the allegedly variant version of the aforesaid Welsh Chronicle of the Princes known as 'Brut Aberpergwm' or the 'Gwentian Brut'. The title or superscription reads 'Llyma Vrut y Tywysogion val y bu Ryfeloedd a Gweithredoedd enseiliaid a Dialeddau a Rhyfeddodau gwedi eu tynnu o'r hen gofion cadwedig a'u blynyddu'n drefnedig gan Garadawc Llancarfan', and the text was reputedly transcribed by [Edward Williams] 'Iorwerth Gwilym' in 1790 from one of the manuscripts of the Reverend Thomas Richards, curate of Llangrallo [co. Glamorgan], who, in turn, had reputedly copied the work in 1764 from a manuscript in the possession of George Wiliams of Aber Pergwm [co. Glamorgan] (see p. 135). For the other reputed transcript of this text allegedly from the same source see NLW MS 13113B (Llanover C. 26) above. Other items in the volume include pp. 13-18, variant versions of parts of the introductory section to Lewis Dwnn's Visitations (see S. R. A volume containing transcripts of Welsh verse in strict metre (consisting mainly of 'cywyddau') transcribed, October [18]89 - February [18]90, by I[saac] F[oulkes] [newspaper proprietor and publisher]. Many of the poems are annotated to indicate that they were copied out of a volume in the possession of 'W.J.' of Llangollen, and the whole work appears to be an incomplete transcript of NLW MS 670D, which itself consists of a collection of Welsh poems transcribed by William Jones ('Bleddyn'), antiquary, local historian, etc., of Llangollen. A note on p. 123 indicates that three 'englynion' by [Thomas Edwards] 'Twm o'r Nant', which were to be found at this point in W[illiam] J[ones]'s volume [NLW MS 670D], had not been copied by the transcriber, as he intended including them in a proposed new edition of that poet's works, to be published by him in 1889. A second note on the same page indicates that, similarly, fourteen 'cywyddau' by Tudur Aled had not been transcribed in the present volume, but had been copied into another book, with the intention of publishing these and other poems by the same bard, together with poems by Guto'r Glyn and Sion Tudur. In fact, fourteen 'cywyddau' and four other poems by Tudur Aled, and all of the poems by Guto'r Glyn and Sion Tudur, which appear in NLW MS 670D, have been omitted from the present volume, the presence of poems by the two latter bards in NLW MS 670D being usually indicated by the transcriber by quoting the title, or title and first line, of such works. A note on p. 153 states that eighty ' cywyddau' by Dafydd ap Gwilym [which appeared in William Jones's book, i.e ., NLW MS 670D, pp. 149-263], had been used to correct the published edition of that poet's work ('Yma daw LXXX Cywydd o waith Dafydd ab Gwilym, y rhai a ddefnyddiwyd i gywiro ei waith argraffedig'). These eighty poems, and also five retaliatory poems composed by Gruffydd Grug, in a poetic contention with Dafydd ap Gwilym, and found interspersed among the eighty 'cywyddau', have been omitted from the present volume. A further note on p. 264 states that the last three 'cywyddau' [in NLW MS 670D] had not been copied, as the transcriber believed the text to be so corrupt, that they did not merit transcription. A fly-leaf is marked 'Bk i', and this possibly connects the volume with NLW MS 19313, which, marked on a fly-leaf 'Bk ii', consists of a similar volume of Welsh verse transcribed, March - April [18]90, by I[saac] F[oulkes], again, by inference, from a book in the possession of W[illiam] J[ones].

In a note on the aforementioned 'title-page' (p. 199) Edward Williams claims to have transcribed this collection in 1799 from a manuscript in the possession of Siams Thomas of Maerdy Newydd, co. Glamorgan. Preceding and following the actual text of the collection are transcripts of a prefatory letter dated 1685 (pp. 201-06) and of the concluding note already referred to (p. 390) both of which are attributed to the Glamorgan scribe and copyist Thomas ab Iefan of Tre Bryn as compiler of the manuscript from which Edward Williams was allegedly copying (see TLLM, t. 172; IM, tt. 291-4). Pp. 391-477 contain a transcript of a collection, in alphabetical order, of over three thousand Welsh proverbs attributed to Cattwg Ddoeth ('Llyma Ddiarhebion Cattwg Ddoeth . . . sef yw hwnn Ail Lyfr y Gwyddfardd Cyvarwydd'). This collection, according to the aforementioned note at the end of the preceding section (p. 390) attributed to Thomas ab Iefan, had been compiled by the said Thomas from various sources and formed a continuation of the previous section. Edward Williams's claim with regard to the Siams Thomas volume is probably intended to apply to the contents of pp. 391-477 as well.
