The press cuttings are taken from a variety of local and national newspapers, e.g., Monmouthshire Merlin, Merthyr Guardian, Hereford Times, Seren Cymru, Seren Gomer, Illustrated Times, Morning Post, The Times, The Observer, etc., and items of Welsh interest include accounts of coronation festivities at Abergavenny, 1831, and of the loss of the 'Rothsay Castle', 1831; a list of literary and musical competitions arranged by 'Cymreigyddion yr Alarch', Merthyr Tydfil, undated; accounts of the opening of the Crumlin Viaduct, 1857, of the destruction of the South Wales Railway bridge over the river Usk at Newport, 1848, and of the colliery explosion at Risca, 1860; and a mass of poetry by contemporary local bards. NLW MS 12355F contains two engraved portraits of the Reverend Francis Hiley, Llanwenarth, and at the end of the same manuscript are some additional press cuttings mounted by Lady H. A. Robinson, relating largely to the death of King Edward VII. The outside upper covers are labelled respectively 'Caradawc's Scrap Book No. 1' and 'Caradawc's Scrap Book No. 2'.

Miscellaneous material relating to eisteddfodau, including an 'englyn' to 'Carnhuanawc' (Thomas Price), a prize poem by 'Talhaiarn' (John Jones) entitled 'Sali Smith', extracts from speeches at Carmarthen eisteddfod, 1823, and Cardiff eisteddfod, 1834, and adjudications by Stephens on essays submitted at eisteddfodau held at Aberafan and Aberdare.

An album of annotated autographs, photographs and engravings, printed matter, press cuttings, etc., compiled during the years 1858-1881. The volume is almost entirely devoted to persons who were prominent in the literary and musical life of Wales during this period, and it appears from internal evidence to have been well known to the compiler's friends and contemporaries. The autographs are largely in the form of personal entries, recorded mainly at national and other eisteddfodau, but there are also a number of mounted holograph letters, 'cut-out' signatures from holograph letters, and franks. A volume lettered on the spine 'Tipyn o Bobpeth', being a scrap-book of press cuttings compiled c. 1900-02 by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). On two occasions only has the compiler recorded his sources, i. e. Y Cerddor and Y Drych, but inferentially there are many cuttings from the latter. Then follows a notebook labelled 'The Aberffraw Royal Eisteddfod MDCCCLIX [sic, for 1849 (MDCCCXLIX)]. The Judges' Controversy &c.,' originally containing outlines of one or two legal documents and a copy of a stamp bond, 1848, and subsequently used to contain press cuttings, etc. relating to the controversy which followed the adjudication of the poetical compositions at the Aberffraw Eisteddfod. There are also some transcripts by Eben Fardd and a holograph letter, 21 January 1850, from [John Jones] 'Talhaiarn', London to Eben Fardd. Preceding the blank pages at the end of the volume are some miscellaneous press cuttings and one or two items in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd '). Some of the material, including an advertisement for a literary meeting at Clynnog Fawr, 1859, has been pasted on to the pages.

A composite volume (pp. 1-540 with two pages not numbered) containing miscellaneous notes, lists, transcripts, extracts, etc., in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'). James, Kirkdale, Liverpool, and Arthur James Johnes, Garthmyl, concerning a resolution of thanks by the Liverpool Society of Ancient Britons to Arthur James Johnes 'for his laudable attempt to remove the abuses which have crept into the established church in Wales through the appointment of English bishops and English incumbents ...'; a prospectus of an eisteddfod to be held at Liverpool on 1 March, 1838, under the auspices of the Liverpool Society of Ancient Britons; an appeal by the London Society of Ancient Britons for subscriptions to a fund for the delivering of lectures in Welsh on scientific subjects and for the translation into Welsh of scientific treatises, etc.; minutes of proceedings of the Liverpool Gordovigion Royal Eisteddfod, 1840; etc. The majority of the press cuttings are from The Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald, The North Wales Chronicle, The Cardiff and Merthyr Guardian, and The Merthyr Chronicle, and include a report on the Beaumaris Royal Eisteddfod, 1832; a letter, 1837, by John Parry ('Bardd Alaw'); a report of a meeting of the Wrexham Literary Association [1859]; letters of John Jones ('Talhaiarn') and others relating to the failure of the London Eisteddfod of 1855; a report of a concert given by the Liverpool Welsh Choral Society [1849]; letters relating to criticisms of adjudications at the Cardiff Athenaeum eisteddfod, 1851; poetry; songs; etc.
