A volume containing miscellany of prose and verse items in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'), divided into three sections each described on its 'title-page' as 'Brith y Coed sef cynnulliad cymmysg o hen Bethau Cymreig Rhyddiaith a Phrydyddiaeth Cynnulliad Iolo Morganwg'. These three sections are numbered Rhifyn 1, 11, 111 respectively. The contents of section 1 (pp. i-viii, 1-153) consist of miscellaneous items including notes on the three bardic brothers Ednyfed, Madawc (Benfras), and Llywelyn ap Gruffudd of Marchwiail [co. An incomplete miscellany, in the form of three unbound volumes, of free- and strict-metre poetry (including illustrative extracts), compiled by David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri') under the title of 'Golwg a'r Parnassus, a Helicon, Sef, Casgliad neulltuol, neu Bigion Dewisol Allan o Waith Prif feirdd neu Brydyddion yr oesoedd, sef y Rhannau hyny o'u Gwaith na ymddangosodd yn argraphedig Hyd yn hyn ond mewn hen Sgrifeniadau, yn Englynion A chywyddau. yn Ddwy Rann; un yn Ddigrifol ar llall yn ddifrifol. O Gascliad, Dewi, ab Thomas, Waunfawr. A Sgrifenwyd yn y flwyddyn 1781'. The preface ('Rhagymadrodd at y Darllenydd') indicates both the period and partly the source of the volume: 'Y Darnau canlynol o Brydyddiaeth a Sgrifennwyd Gennyf yn fy Ieuenctyd, Pan ddechreuais Gyntaf Gael blas, ar farddoniaeth Reolaidd Ac yn ol fy nhŷb i, y Pryd hwnnw, maent yn Brif orchestwaith, Pigion, neu oreuon, Gwaith yr hen Feirdd ... Holograph letters from [the Rev.] Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) to Daniel Jones, Wrexham, 182[ ]-1825 (2) (points relating to the publishing of the writer's two-volume edition [?of the poetical works of Huw Morus, viz. Eos Ceiriog, sef Casgliad o Ber Ganiadau Huw Morus . . . (Yn Ngwrecsam, 1823)], the writer's doubts as to the wisdom of publishing an unrevised edition of the metrical psalms of Edmwnd Prys, a suggestion that opinions on this point be sought through the columns of Y Gwyliedydd, criticisms that some of Prys's lines were stiff ('anystwyth hynod') and did not lend themselves to any measure, references to Titus Lewis's edition of Prys's psalms [Pigion o Salmau Canu yn ôl cyfansoddiad Edmwnd Prys (Caerfyrddin, 1810)], the belief that Lewis had introduced some changes into some of the psalms), and [John] Painter [printer, Wrexham], 1821-1825 (2) (points relating to the publishing of vol.
