Mortage of the castle and manor of Dinas, the castle and farm of Talgarth etc. by Robert Williams of Cabalva, co. Rad., esq., David Williams of Cornedowne, co. Glos., esq., and Henry Williams, gent., eldest son and heir apparent of the said Robert Williams, to Henry Williams of Gwernyfed, co. Brec., esq., for several sums paid by Robert Williams of Cabalva and others to the several persons subscribed, being the proper debt of Henry Williams of Gwernyfed, 27 Aug. 1641 (J 1).

Volume of rent rolls and receipts of rents, including for properties in p's Coychurch and Coety, and assumed to relate to part of the Dunraven estate. On the first page are memoranda of heriots, arrears and agreements, 1673-1674. The first rent roll is dated Sept. 1671, and the receipts of this Michaelmas rent are dated Jan. 1671[/2]-Aug. 1673. The same pattern of rent roll and receipts is maintained for May 1672, Sept. 1672 and May 1673. Subsequently the rent roll is omitted, with seperate half-yearly receipts only, from the [Michaelmas 1673] rent, received Dec. 1673-Oct. 1675, to the March 1678 rent, received Oct. 1678-April 1679. From the back of the volume are further memoranda, 1672-1673, and an account of payments "p'd my self" and others, 1671-1679[/80]. The volume is untitled and unsigned, and the accounts are unaudited. Very few placenames are mentioned. The only place names in the first rental are Watertown Mill, Morfa Farm and Coychurch. Other place names include a parcel of land called Cae Garrw in p's Coety and Coychurch, a common called keven heergoed, and ka morfa shark, Castle Moat, Berllan Vawr, Old castle, and heerwayn in Coety.

A box and bundle number in pencil on the front cover (Box 16, B['dl 1?] may be similar to those on other Dunraven documents.

Lancs, between Thomas Valentine of the said Freetown, mariner, and John Partington of Garratt, Manchester, co. Lancs, dyer and printer, 1794; and other deeds, 1796-1814.

Petition (39 names) by the "cultivators of the soil and growers of wool" in the hundred of Newcastle, co. Glam., to the House of Commons, protesting against the importation of 26,799,367 bushels of foreign corn in 1818, duty free, and of 13 million pounds of foreign wool in three quarters of a year, at a duty of a halfpenny and a fraction per pound, when the petitioners are paying probably 30% taxes on everything they can grow. They pray for a committee of inquiry, and duties on the imports to bring their cost up to that of "the productions of the soil of the United Kingdom". Several of the signatories have the first name or the family name/patronymic 'David', Lord Ogmore's mother's maiden name.

The bond of Margaret Jones of Carmarthen, widow, in £600 to Henry Williams of Gwernyfed, co. Brec., esq., Thomas Williams of Middle Temple, London, esq., and Thomas Williams of Bradstreete, London, merchant, reciting that the parties are jointly and severally bound in £400 to Ellis Locker, gent., for the repayment on 12 Jan. next of £206, the proper debt of Margaret, 9 July 1655 (J 2); the bond of Sir Henry Williams of Gwernyfed in £500 to Richard Wigmore of Upton Court, esq., to pay £206 to Francis Trion of London, merchant, 12 May 1659 (J 3); the recognisance of Elizabeth Williams in £1000 to Anne Williams her daughter, a minor, for the payment of the sum of £500 when she comes of age or be married, and in the meantime to allow Anne the interest for her maintenance, according to a decree in Chancery dated 2 July 1669, 24 Oct. 1670 (J 4); a grant by John Essington of Slimbridge, co. Glos, gent., to his wife of £50 a year until her daughter reach 16 years of age, 25 Nov. 1672, reciting that David Williams of Corenden, esq., William Selwyn of the city of Gloucester, esq., John Gyse of Ableades Court, esq., and Edward Selwyn of Mattsdowne, gent., all co. Glos., are trustees of the principal and interest of £2000 declared in an agreement made between Elizabeth, now wife of the said John Essingham, then Elizabeth Williams of the city of Gloucester, widow of Thomas Williams, esq., dec., and the said John Essington, 13 March 1670/1 (J 16); and the pedigree of David Williams of Shrewsbury, MD, 'now living' aged 30, the third but eldest surviving son of David Williams of Cornedon, co. Glos., aged 70, the grandson of Sir David Williams of Guernyfed, co. Brec. (d. 1612), signed 'Da Williams', 1683 (torn along the seams, held together by tape) (P 14); and a later copy of the same pedigree brought down to 1730, with a few annotations to 1744 and an endorsement down to E. Penfold, Loose Court, co. Kent, 1821.

Includes probate of the will of Captain Dunken, 'native of Lieben in Courland a citizen of the city of Hamburgh (will, 1832) and 'late of Macao in the East Indies deceased' (probate), a memorandum of the baptisms of John and Catherine Edwards of Arddynwynt's children, p. Mold, 1789-1805, an affadavit relating to the children, including Mary (afterwards Mrs Dunken), 1861, and most of the documents marked A-S referred to in the affadavit.

Dunken (d. 10 Aug. 1833) was commander of the ship 'Reform' of Hamburg. John Dugdale (d. 29 July 1855) of Dugdale & Bros, Manchester, was one of Dunken's executors.
