Material relating to Morysiaid Môn, etc.,

A scribbling tablet in the hand of J. H. Davies containing extracts and notes from manuscripts in the British Museum, the National Library of Wales and Cardiff Free Library and from printed sources largely on the correspondence of, and poetry by or relating to, the Morris brothers ('Morysiaid Môn'), Goronwy Owen ('o Fôn'), Evan Evans ('Ieuan Fardd') and Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg').

A composite volume made up of copies of Yr Odydd Cymreig, Cyf. 1 (1842), Rhif 2, 3, 4, and articles on 'Llyfrgelloedd ' (Y Traethodydd, 1858-9), 'Y Bardd o'r Nant a'i Waith' (Y Traethodydd, 1875), 'Y Bardd o'r Nant a'r Cerddi Bedydd' (Y Traethodydd, 1876), and 'Sallwyr Cymraeg', a review of Twr Dafydd: sef Salmau Dafydd wedi eu cyfaddasu ar Gân ... gan y Parchedig William Rees, Liverpool (Dinbych: Thomas Gee, 1875), followed by some miscellaneous press-cuttings.

Diary,

Diary, 1870, with entries from March-October, describing his life as an itinerant farm labourer in Victoria, Australia, including work threshing corn with periods of unemployment, poetry and a copy of a letter, 8 September 1870, sent by Joseph Jenkins, 'Travelling Swagman', to a farmer W. Nash, seeking work. The first section of the book contains poems written in Welsh, including 26 stanzas giving advice to his son Tom, a verse he composed after hearing about the death of his son Lewis, [1869], 'At fy merch Mary' and 'Pan yn rhodio ym mysg y llwyni ger llaw Castlemaine ...'.

The volume also contains a few memoranda, as well as an 'Englyn i Barlwr y Parchg L. Richards' by Ieuan Cadfan [?Evan Breece], dated 6 January 1844 (inside front cover), and a verse by [John] Black[we]ll (on front flyleaf).
