Legal precedents; catalogue of deeds,

A volume originally used by J. H. Davies to record some late nineteenth and early twentieth century legal precedents, including an opinion, 3 February [19]05, on the claim for payment of chief rents by freeholders 'in and about' Dinas Mawddwy. Beginning at the end of the volume is a catalogue compiled by Annie J. Ellis, Thomas Iorwerth Ellis and J. H. Davies, c. 1914, of bundles of deeds and documents numbered 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 (Watkins of Moelcerni, Cardiganshire) and dated 1549-1848 in the Cwrtmawr collection of deeds (now in the National Library of Wales and described in detail in a typewritten catalogue (1956)).

An album of annotated autographs, photographs and engravings, printed matter, press cuttings, etc., compiled during the years 1858-1881. The volume is almost entirely devoted to persons who were prominent in the literary and musical life of Wales during this period, and it appears from internal evidence to have been well known to the compiler's friends and contemporaries. The autographs are largely in the form of personal entries, recorded mainly at national and other eisteddfodau, but there are also a number of mounted holograph letters, 'cut-out' signatures from holograph letters, and franks. Ellis was the editor of the first volume of Gweithiau Morgan Llwyd o Wynedd (Bangor, 1899), in which was reproduced the text of the first edition of Llyfr y Tri Aderyn (1653) (pp. 151-266).
