Papers and printed matter, 1903-1929, relating to societies and bodies to which Annie J. Hughes-Griffiths was a member. They comprise annual reports of the Welsh Folk-song Society as well as manuscripts and a notebook entitled 'Folk Songs', 1906-1919; the Liberal Social Council annual report, 1903; and minutes and reports, 1928-1929, relating to the Committee on the Social Welfare of Girls in London.

Personalia. Of particular interest are: a poem in Welsh endorsed, 'Written & composed by William Jones MP at a dinner given in the House of Commons by Mr & Mrs J. Herbert Lewis on July:9:1913. Found among my papers in February 1931, and given to Lady Carey Evans. Annie J. Hughes Griffiths' (no. 186); OCE's advanced driving certificate, April 1964 (no. 193); and typescript and manuscript drafts of her autobiography Lloyd George was my father (Llandysul, 1985) (nos. 201-2).

Some ninety-eight letters, postcards and telegrams, 1898-1940, addressed to Annie J. Davies (later Ellis, later Hughes-Griffiths). The correspondents include [E.] Vincent Evans, T. Also included are some six miscellaneous family letters; together with a letter, 25 February 1911, from J. Lloyd Williams to Mrs Mary Davies (Mair Mynorydd) concerning the work of the Welsh Folksong Society (presumably passed on by Mary Davies to her friend Annie Ellis).

Legal precedents; catalogue of deeds,

A volume originally used by J. H. Davies to record some late nineteenth and early twentieth century legal precedents, including an opinion, 3 February [19]05, on the claim for payment of chief rents by freeholders 'in and about' Dinas Mawddwy. Beginning at the end of the volume is a catalogue compiled by Annie J. Ellis, Thomas Iorwerth Ellis and J. H. Davies, c. 1914, of bundles of deeds and documents numbered 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 (Watkins of Moelcerni, Cardiganshire) and dated 1549-1848 in the Cwrtmawr collection of deeds (now in the National Library of Wales and described in detail in a typewritten catalogue (1956)).
