Letters from W. J. Gruffydd to O. M. Edwards

The file contains letters discussing the writer's progress as a student, his early poems submitted for publication, the progress of his career as a teacher at Beaumaris School and as a lecturer in the Department of Welsh, and they congratulate O. M. Edwards on his appointment as Chief Inspector of Schools in Wales in 1907.

Papurau gan ac yn llaw W. J. Gruffydd sy'n cynnwys llythyr dyddiedig 12 Medi 1899 oddi wrth W. J. Gruffydd at Thomas Owen Jones, Coventry (rhoddwr y llawysgrifau) sy'n amgau cywydd wedi'i chyfeirio at T. O. Jones ac sy'n dwyn yr un dyddiad â'r llythyr; a cherddi yn dwyn y teitlau 'Baled Bywyd' a 'L'Envoi'. Dynodir fod y ddwy gerdd olaf, yn ôl pob tebyg, wedi'u cyfansoddi yng Ngholeg yr Iesu, Rhydychen a dyddir hwynt 4 Ionawr 1901 = Holograph manuscripts of W. J. Gruffydd comprising a letter dated 12 September 1899 from W. J. Gruffydd to Thomas Owen Jones, Coventry (donor of the papers) enclosing a cywydd addressed to T. O. Jones which bears the same date as the letter; and poems entitled 'Baled Bywyd' and 'L'Envoi', both apparently written at Jesus College, Oxford and dated 4 January 1901.

The letters relate mainly to John Cowper Powys's work, the Welsh language and culture, and personal matters.
