An accompanying note by 'Llew Llwyfo' records that the former song was written on the occasion of the departure of the Reverend Richard Parry ('Gwalchmai') from Conway to Llandovery, and was sung by 'Llew Llwyfo' at 'Eisteddfod [Cymreigyddion] y Fenni' in 1853.
