An account of the Vaughans of Corsygedol,

The manuscript is in two parts. The first contains an English poem entitled 'Faction Display'd', temp. Queen Anne; an account of the Vaughan family of Corsygedol mainly transcribed by Angharad Llwyd, with an original rental of the Corsygedol estate, 1637; a transcript by W. W. E. Wynne of Powell of Ednope's 'Pentarchia' from a manuscript at Brogyntyn, with a letter by the Rev. Robert Williams, Rhydycroesau. The second part comprises a booklet of extracts from a manuscript at Porkington (now Brogyntyn MS 14) in the hand of Lewis Anwyl relating to the families of Anwyl of Park and Owen of Porkington and Clenennau. Peniarth MS 440ii was published by W. W. E. Wynne in Montgomeryshire Collections Vol. IX (1876), pp. 357-64.

Papers of Angharad Llwyd (1780-1866), antiquary, transcriber and collector of manuscripts and records, and daughter of John Lloyd (1733-1793), rector of Caerwys and friend of Thomas Pennant (1726-1798). The papers include correspondence; poetry; an election address, 1837; pedigrees of the Wynn family of Gwydir and Wynnstay; an essay on genealogy by Angharad Llwyd; posters and circulars relating to the activities of the Ruthin Literary Society, 1825, the Hendre and Llanover theatres, Monmouthshire, 1843, and the Rhuddlan Castle eisteddfod, 1849; etc.

Some two hundred and sixty-seven letters, October 1857-November 1858, addressed to the Rev. John Williams (Ab Ithel), Llanymawddwy, Merioneth, mostly concerning the organisation of the Eisteddfod ('Eisteddfod Fawr Llangollen') held at Llangollen, Denbighshire, 20-24 September 1858.

Many letters, especially from Ab Ithel's friends, also concern a variety of other matters. A single letter, from Edward A. Freeman, Dursley, is dated 25 October 1850 (ff. 1-2).

Poetry, correspondence and other miscellaneous family papers, 1776-1880, [?1927], relating to the Mostyn and Lloyd-Mostyn family of Mostyn, Flintshire, and the Lloyds of Pengwern, Flintshire.
The papers include: (i) poetry, 1776-[1838x1843] (ff. 1-5), comprising verses to Sir Roger Mostyn, 5th bart, by Richard Williams of Fron, 1776 (f. 1), a song in honour of Sir Edward Pryce Lloyd, 2nd Bart (later 1st Baron Mostyn) by Mrs Piozzi, 1806 (f. 2), verses 'To the Lady Harriett Mostyn on the birth of her ninth child' by Angharad Llwyd, 1838 (f. 3), and 'Lines on Sir R[obert] W[ilia]mes Vaughan, Bart' by R. Owen, [1834x1843] (f. 5), all apparently unpublished; (ii) some sixteen letters, 1801-[1864] (ff. 6-23), including juvenile letters from Edward Mostyn Lloyd[-Mostyn] (later 2nd Baron Mostyn) to 'Granny' [possibly his great-aunt Frances Mostyn], 1803-1806 (ff. 7-11), an incomplete transcript of 'Savage Mostyn's Indian Letter', dated 10 July 1858 (ff. 17-18), and a letter, [?21 February 1864], from Essex Mostyn to her sister Bessy [Elizabeth Weekes], concerning the disastrous fire at Pengwern, home of their Uncle and Aunt, on 19 February (f. 19); (iii) genealogical and heraldic notes, 1810-1880, [?1927] (ff. 24-40), including an outline of the history of the Lloyds of Pengwern, 1810 (ff. 24-25), notes for a proposed coat of arms for the Mostyn family, [?1831] (ff. 30-33), and notes by F. de Witt, [1860s] (ff. 36-37); (iv) papers, 1823-1838, relating to the lease of a property in Lower Seymour Street, London (ff. 41-44); (v) various lists of visitors and guests at Mostyn, 1832-1877 and undated (ff. 45-57); and (vi) miscellaneous other items including an essay by F. A volume issued, 1828, to the antiqury Angharad Llwyd, Tyn-y-rhyl, Flintshire, for the collection of subscriptions towards St David's Welsh Church, Liverpool, but utilised by her as a commonplace and autograph book. Verse and prose entries, 1830-1853, mostly of a religious nature, include autograph poetry by John Jones (Tegid), Thomas Price (Carnhuanawc), and Bryan Waller Procter (Barry Cornwall), and entries by Sir John Bernard Bosanquet, Lady Charlotte Guest, Augusta Hall, Lady Llanover, Henry Hart Milman, David Pennant, William Owen[-Pughe], Thomas Raffles, Henry Raikes, John Bird Sumner, and Frances Wrangham. Also included is a letter of address, 1828, to Angharad Llwyd from the Rev. Robert Davies, perpetual curate of St David's Church (f. iii).
