Nomads

A high energy production which incorporated live music and film to convey the themes of restlessness and wanderlust, Nomads was the first collaboration between Earthfall and the virtuoso cellist Ben Davis. The show's tour itinerary included the acclaimed Eurodanse Festival in France and the New World Arts Fest held in New Haven, Connecticut. i and i

Material relating to Earthfall's production i and i, which premiered in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1994 and subsequently toured Britain, Europe and South America. i and i pioneered Earthfall's exploration of choreography and politics, a genre which the group named 'choreopolitik'. Girl Standing By The Lake

Girl Standing By The Lake was the result of a commission by Cardiff International Festival to create a work celebrating women in the arts. The production, which was premiered in Cardiff's Coal Exchange in 1994, involved dance and live music performed on a platform made up of 4.5 tonnes of coal. Items comprise printed theatre programmes and flyers; stage notes/directions; copies of photographs showing cast member lying on coal; press notices; and reviews.

aD

aD utilised an all-male cast and the influence of literary works including Dylan Thomas' poem Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night to portray the relationship between father and son. At Swim, Two Boys

Adapted from Irish author Jamie O'Neill's novel of the same name, At Swim, Two Boys depicted the developing relationship between two boys set against the backdrop of Ireland's 1916 Easter Rising. The winner of the 2005 Theatre in Wales Award for Best Dance/Physical Theatre Production, the show toured for three years at major theatre festivals throughout Britain and much of Europe. In 2011, Earthfall revived their production of At Swim, Two Boys to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the novel's publication. Bakkus

Bakkus, an exploration of fanaticism and cultism, was Earthfall's third collaboration with Poland's Chorea theatre company and toured in both Wales and Poland. The production drew mainly from Euripides' The Bacchae and incorporated choral music derived from traditional and ancient sources. The Factory

Influenced by the underground arts scene of late 1950s/1960s New York City, The Factory utilised a multi-media approach of dance, image, film and live music. The production was premiered in 2010. Chelsea Hotel

Earthfall's 2013 production Chelsea Hotel, a poetic tragicomedy incorporating dance, live music and film, captured the lives and loves of some of the best-known residents of this iconic establishment. The show toured Wales and England and received the Wales Theatre Award for Best Small Scale Dance. Items comprise printed theatre programmes and flyers; creative notes; stage notes/directions; and reviews. Creative notes and reviews kept in folders.

And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief As Photos

A short experimental work whose title and inspiration was taken from an anthology of poetry and prose by art critic and novelist John Berger. Incorporating song and film, the production was a collaboration between Earthfall and the Welsh Independent Dancers and Man Act theatre companies. Tails East, Heads West

Tails East, Heads West, a performance combining dance, music, word and image, was inspired by Jessica Cohen's study of t'ai chi ch'uan in Taiwan in 1984. Items comprise printed theatre programmes and flyers; press notices; printed arts magazines; and reviews.

Forever and Ever

Forever and Ever was commissioned for the UK Year of Literature (1995) and was the result of Earthfall's collaboration with Irish author Jamie O'Neill. The show, which toured throughout Britain and Europe, explored themes of confinement and oppression, negotiation and compromise and was produced with the support of Amnesty International. Too Old To Dream

Material relating to the ten-minute short film Too Old To Dream, the product of collaboration between Earthfall and an over-70s group in Blackwood, Caerphilly, South Wales. Scripted by Earthfall founder members Jessica Cohen and Jim Ennis, the film was based on a childhood memory of one of the cast members, about half of whom were over 75 years of age. Too Old To Dream was premiered in Cardiff in 1998 and subsequently shown at film festivals in England, Ireland and Europe. Hodē Galatan

Material relating to Hodē Galatan, a multi-media production which combined ancient Greek song with contemporary images and movement in depicting a narrative of love and war. The show, premiered in Wales in 2003, was the product of a collaboration between Earthfall and Polish performance company Chorea which began a long-standing partnership between the two groups.
