Girl Standing By The Lake was the result of a commission by Cardiff International Festival to create a work celebrating women in the arts. The production, which was premiered in Cardiff's Coal Exchange in 1994, involved dance and live music performed on a platform made up of 4.5 tonnes of coal. Items comprise printed theatre programmes and flyers; stage notes/directions; copies of photographs showing cast member lying on coal; press notices; and reviews.
