Articles and biography,

Four volumes of offprints of published articles by Cyril Fox, some in collaboration with Aileen Fox and others, and copies of chapters he contributed to books, including The early cultures of north west Europe (H. M Chadwick memorial studies), which he edited. Some of the volumes are indexed, and they also contain notes by Fox and related press cuttings and letters from other archaeologists. The periodicals in which the articles were published include: Archaeologia Cambrensis, The Archaeological Journal, The Antiquaries' Journal, Cambridge Antiquarian Society Communications, Proceedings of the Prehistoric Society, Bulletin of the Board of Celtic Studies, Report of the Friends of Exeter Cathedral, Proceedings of the Somersetshire Archaeological and Natural History Society, Proceedings of the Prehistoric Society of East Anglia, Antiquity, Transactions of the Cardiff Naturalists' Society, Publications of the Bedfordshire Historical Record Society, The Cambridge Chronicle, and Records of Buckinghamshire. Also included are correspondence and notes of Charles Scott-Fox, as well as photocopied articles collected by him, relating to his biography of Cyril Fox, and particularly matters concerning publication and permission to use images, together with a copy-edited typescript proof of the work.

Six volumes of offprints of published archaeological articles and papers, almost all of them by Cyril Fox (some in collaboration with others), with some by Aileen Fox, as well as notes, comments, reviews and letters by Cyril Fox, all taken from archaeological periodicals and other publications. Most of the volumes have been indexed and annotated by Fox, and also include related photographs and press cuttings, as well as letters to him from other archaeologists and historians about the offprints. Books, pamphlets and articles,

Copies and offprints of published archaeological books and pamphlets by Cyril Fox (some in collaboration with others), most of them annotated by him, and including reviews and other related cuttings from the press and academic journals, as well as related photographs, offprints, and letters from archaeologists, historians and others involved in archaeological finds and reports. The works include: Offa's Dyke; Monmouthshire houses; Pattern and purpose: a survey of Early Celtic art in Britain; The personality of Britain: its influence on inhabitant and invader in prehistoric and early historic times; A country house of the Elizabethan period in Wales: Six Wells, Llantwit Major; A find of the early Iron Age from Llyn Cerrig Bach, Anglesey; Ancient monuments: South Wales; and Houses of outstanding historic or architectural interest. Also included are offprints of articles and addresses by Fox, most of which were were published in Antiquity and The Antiquaries' Journal, as well as offprints of articles by Mortimer Wheeler and other archaeologists, together with a menu card from a dinner held by the Cardiff Naturalists' Society, copies of Stuart Piggott's obituary for Fox in the Proceedings of the British Academy, the address given by Piggott at Fox's memorial service, and letters to Fox from his family.

Notebook, articles, lectures and pamphlets,

A notebook of archaeological and historical lecture notes ('Chadwick and other notes') kept by Cyril Fox while an undergraduate student at Cambridge, and a 2004 edition of some of his previously unpublished later notebooks and papers, with correspondence between Charles Scott-Fox and the editors and publishers. Also included are offprints of published articles, books, pamphlets and addresses by Cyril Fox, some written in collaboration with others, and a copy of Culture and environment: essays in honour of Sir Cyril Fox, together with other archaeological publications collected by Fox; most of these works are annotated by him, and some contain related press cuttings and letters from publishers and other archaeologists. The books by Fox include: Life and death in the Bronze Age, The archaeology of the Cambridge region, and Monmouthshire houses; the periodicals in which his articles appeared include: Proceedings of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society, Antiquity, The Cambridge Historical Journal, The Antiquaries' Journal, Proceedings of the Hampshire Field Club and Archaeological Society, and Archaeologia Cambrensis.

Photographs, drawings and articles,

Photographs of Cyril Fox and his family, friends and associates, notably in academia and the Army, and also of archaeological and other subjects of personal and professional interest to Fox, taken throughout his life, and including a number of nineteenth-century portraits, together with a few related letters. Also included are: drawings, mostly of archaeological subjects, by Fox [?and others]; photocopies of cartoons by him in the style of the Bayeux tapestry depicting trips to Wales, Brittany, Sweden, Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey and Kent; a printed copy of the genealogy of the Fox family of Southampton; offprints of articles by Cyril Fox; copies of publications relating to archaeology and museums in Wales, mostly dating from after his death; photocopies of articles from archaeological journals; and a copy of a Peanuts cartoon mentioning Cyril Fox, intended for use in Charles Scott-Fox's biography.
