Card indexes,

The series comprises six boxes of card indexes used by Hubbard in the course of his research and writing career, listing British authors A-G, H-R, S-Z and misc., and foreign authors, A-G, H-O, P-Z, each also incorporating some subject headings in the same rough alphabetical sequence.

Papers relating to Australian culture,

The series comprises handwritten notes, a printed radio script on Aborigines, other published leaflets and press cuttings, 1953-1956, mainly relating to the commemoration of historical events, Australian customs, employment conditions, dialect and tourist attractions.

Work-related letters (correspondent files),

The series comprises letters, 1948-1995, from publishers, organisations, breeders and private individuals, mainly on the subjects of dog breeds; canine behaviour; health and welfare; anecdotes; the content, illustration and publication of canine literature; Hubbard's private book collection; orders for books; radio broadcasts; dog shows; breed club business; and personalities of the dog world.

Personal letters and papers,

The series comprises letters received by Ettie May Duckmanton (née Hubbard), 1906-1947, 1963, Clifford Hubbard, 1950-1959 and Margaret Hubbard, 1886, 1901-1904, 1924, from each other, from other members of the family, friends and official institutions on matters affecting the family, together with occasional printed booklets, bills and press cuttings.

Broadcasting papers,

The series comprises scripts for radio broadcasts, notes and correspondence between Hubbard and various producers, 1949-1958. The notes and letters are similar for each file, mainly concerning suggestions for radio or television programmes and broadcasting schedules.

Kennel and stud books,

The series comprises kennel books, 1889-1961, containing pedigrees, kennel accounts, breeding details and show records of various breeds, mainly Cairn Terriers, Cocker Spaniels, Fox Terriers and Welsh Terriers, Chows, Japanese Spaniels and Pekinese, and a stud book of hounds, 1846-1894.

Publication papers,

The series comprises material accumulated in the preparation and publication of books and articles by Clifford Hubbard, 1862-1980. It consists of typed and manuscript drafts, proofs, research notes, articles, pedigrees, extracts copied from canine literature, press cuttings and letters from publishers and individuals relating to specific books and articles, frequently accompanied by copies of Hubbard's own letters to them. The material in this series is consistently of a similar type, therefore only items of particular interest are mentioned separately at file level.

The series comprises research notes, pedigrees, press cuttings, manuscript and printed sources, copies and extracts from literature, private letters, printed leaflets and circulars, on the subjects of canine bibliographies, 1958, 1972, literature, [post-1786], 1896, [1925], 1944-1945, history, c. 1800, 1862-1875, 1908-1951, British and foreign dog breeds, classification of types, breed conformation standards, 1883-1995, physiology and health, 1924-1970, care, breeding and training, [post-1924]-1971, hunting, 1888-1954, dogs in art, war, work and leisure, 1937-1951, and the pug, 1950-1966; and an album of show certificates, [1889]-1895. Since the format of the majority of files is similar, only items of particular interest are noted at file level.

Newspaper and magazine articles,

The series comprises whole issues, individual pages, scrap books and loose cuttings of newspapers and magazines, 1816-1993, covering the biology of breeding, breed types, care, welfare, training, dog-loving celebrities, showing, clubs, animal photography, dogs and the law, working dogs, terriers, spaniels, anecdotes and a few, non-canine topics.

Work-related letters (subject files),

The series comprises work-related letters from publishers, organisations, breeders and private individuals, already filed by Hubbard under subject, and mostly with original headings. The subjects include advertisment, publicity and distribution of the Dog Lover's Library via literature, the media, dog show stands and a travelling van, 1957-1959; proposals for a pocket book of dogs and for further publications relating to specific breeds, 1951-1960; book orders, 1950-1987; dog purchases, 1958-1959; identification and valuation of paintings in Hubbard's possession, 1957; and breed characteristics of Welsh Beagles, 1949.

Editorial papers,

The series comprises typed and manuscript drafts, proofs, research notes, articles, pedigrees, extracts copied from canine literature, press cuttings and letters, 1891-1905, 1927-1976, relevant to books written by other authors, mainly for the Dog Lover's Library series, edited by Hubbard, published by Nicholson and Watson of London. The material in all the files of this series is consistently of a similar type, therefore only items of particular interest are mentioned separately at file level.

Pamphlets and circulars,

The series comprises mainly printed pamphlets and circulars, in some cases accompanied by relevant letters and press cuttings, concerning British and foreign dog shows, 1901-1979, administration of the Kennel Club and individual breed clubs, 1931-1997, and advertisments for books, journals and postcards, 1934-1987. Additional material includes obituaries and tributes to Doggie Hubbard, 2000 and 2003.
