The fonds consists of personal papers and correspondence, 1826-1967, of members of the family of Rees Jenkin Jones, namely the Rev. John Jones (1802-1863), Mrs Anne Griffith Jones (1852-1899), Dr Goronwy Jones (1881-1945), the Rev. Simon Jones (1879-1967) and the Rev. Rees Jenkin Jones (1835-1924) himself, together with estate records, 1620-1916, of the Clettwr estate, Cardiganshire, Cilgell Isaf estate, Carmarthenshire, and of premises in Aberdare, Glamorgan. Much of the material relates to the Unitarian cause in Wales.

Miscellaneous papers

The series comprises miscellaneous papers, c. 1895-1950, including some press cuttings relating to the annual Singing Festival held at Pontypridd, 1895.

Chartism

The file comprises a notebook containing extracts from David Williams, John Frost: a study in Chartism (Cardiff, 1939); together with loose sheets written in Welsh on 'R[ees] J[enkin] J[ones]'.

Transcripts of Solomon Harris' account book

The file comprises transcripts, 1758-1764, from the account book of the Rev. Solomon Harries, relating to a school which was opened by him in 1758 and listing the scholars. At the end there is a transcript in Welsh of a minute book of Hen Dŷ Cwrdd, Aberdare, 1858-1862, and press cuttings, 1923-1931, relating to the High Street Unitarian Church, Swansea.

The file includes a list of members and sympathisers belonging to the Morgan Street Unitarian Church, Pontypridd, [c. 1904]. The volume was subsequently used for quotations from various sources, especially relating to China.

Notebooks and scrapbooks

The series comprises notebooks and scrapbooks, covering [c. 1865]-1939, relating mainly to Unitarianism, in particular to the cause at Hen Dŷ Cwrdd, Aberdare, and at High Pavement Chapel, Nottingham.

Lecture notes and sermons

The series comprises a notebook containing lecture notes of the Rev. Simon Jones, 1903-1904, entitled 'Preacher and Pastor' whilst he was a student at the Manchester Unitarian College; together with press cuttings, mostly from Christian World, and a sermon based on Revelations 21:10.

Diaries

The series comprises a diary, 1919, containing few entries, with press cuttings, 1932, relating to the League of Nations and Manchuria, and to a sermon delivered by the Rev. Simon Jones at Nottingham on this subject.

Letter book

The file includes two carbon copies of letters, 1919, sent by the Rev. Simon Jones as Honorary Secretary of the North Midland Presbyterian and Unitarian Association.

The file comprises letters, 1918-1921, from Alexander Gordon, Principal of the Manchester Unitarian College, to the Rev. Simon Jones. The first two letters relate to the Rev. Simon Jones's induction as minister at the High Pavement Church, Nottingham.

A. M. T. Jones: financial letters

The file comprises letters, 1937-1967, relating to the finances of Mrs Anne Mary Tydien Jones. The first letter is addressed to Dr Goronwy Jones. The papers include a 'Schedule of deeds and documents relating to Heathfield or Rectory Cottages, Bishopston, near Swansea', 1917, referring to a contract and assignement for purchase by Mrs A. M. T. Jones.

The file comprises letters, c. 1907-1927, addressed to the Rev. Simon Jones; together with a letter, 1922, written to their adopted son, Watcyn, at Willaston School, Nantwich. Watcyn died in 1934 following a motor cycle accident.
