Pantydefaid congregation

The series comprises a statement by the Rev. John Jones, March 1833, 'of the origin and progress of the misunderstanding existing between the members of the once united and friendly congregation at Pantydefaid in the parish of Llandysul, Cardiganshire'. Also included is a transcript, in Rev. Simon Jones's hand, of one page of the statement.

Letters to the Rev. Rees Jenkin Jones

The series comprises letters and postcards, 1864-1923, to the Rev. Rees Jenkin Jones from some one hundred and twenty correspondents. The contents, in addition to personal matters, relate to Unitarianism in general and in particular the cause in Aberdare and Cardiganshire; journals and periodicals, especially Yr Ymofynydd; literary matters; and biographical material.

The series comprises letters, 1823-1851, including letters from Humphrey Bromley and material relating to him and to the work of the Rev. John James, Gellionnen.

The series comprises diaries, 1836-1859, relating mainly to the Rev. John Jones's work as Unitarian minister of Hen Dŷ Cwrdd and as schoolmaster at Aberdare.

The series consists of notes, [c. 1877]-1919, relating to the history of the Old Meeting House (Hen Dŷ Cwrdd), Aberdare; together with reports, 1908, from Unitarian churches relating to attendances; press cuttings, 1877, concerning the Llwynrhydowen eviction in 1876 and notes on ministers of Merthyr Tydfil and Cefncoedycymer.

Extracts from letters and genealogical notes

The series comprises, amongst other material, extracts from letters, [c. 1809]-1881, mainly to or from the Rev. John James, Gellionnen, genealogical material, including that relating to the family of Llwynrhys, Llanbadarn Odwyn, and notes of archaeological interest.

The series consists of a volume of press cuttings, [c. 1889]-1941, bearing the name of Dr Goronwy Jones and containing, amongst other things, a series of 'notes historical' by the Rev. Rees Jenkin Jones on 'Old Aberdare', published in The Aberdare Leader, 1921-1922.

Diaries

The series comprises a diary, 1919, containing few entries, with press cuttings, 1932, relating to the League of Nations and Manchuria, and to a sermon delivered by the Rev. Simon Jones at Nottingham on this subject.

Lecture notes and sermons

The series comprises a notebook containing lecture notes of the Rev. Simon Jones, 1903-1904, entitled 'Preacher and Pastor' whilst he was a student at the Manchester Unitarian College; together with press cuttings, mostly from Christian World, and a sermon based on Revelations 21:10.
