'Men and matters',

A scrap-book containing photographs, post-cards, &c., entitled 'Men and Matters'. Included in the volume are pictures of servicemen of the First World War, miscellaneous book-plates, reader's tickets for libraries, picture post-cards, seals, letters, water-colour paintings, foreign paper money, &c. A memoranda book which belonged to Rebecca B. Gibbins (d. 1862), containing a poem 'The truthful boy'; 'Some account of the early life of Stephen Guellett'; and press cuttings from The Cambrian, 1827, being a series of articles by Elijah Waring of Plas-y-Velin, Neath, entitled 'Recollections of Edward Williams', ['Iolo Morganwg']. Memoranda and commonplace book,

A volume containing memoranda, dated 1840-41, of Ophelia Catherine Powell (1823-1866), daughter of George Eyre Powell and Catherine, his wife, afterwards wife of the Rev. Professor David Lewis Evans, and a commonplace book of poetry and some prose items kept by the said Ophelia Powell between January 1843 and July 1854. Other items included in the volume are an incomplete letter, dated at Colyton 20 Dec. 1846, addressed to 'Miss Powell with J.T.'s [?the Rev. James Taplin] affectionate regards', and the substance of a funeral address and a sermon delivered by the Rev. James Taplin in 1845. English. Formerly George Eyre Evans Bequest MS 12.

Matthews of Wilnecote family history,

A volume, compiled [c. 1934], entitled 'Biographical Accounts of various members of the family descended from the Matthews of Wilnecote Warwickshire by Arthur Weight Matthews', giving biographical accounts of members of the family descended from Thomas Matthews (1747-1793) of Birmingham, a native of Wilnecote in Warwickshire.

A group of about one hundred and forty autograph letters and postcards, 1907-1908, addressed to George Eyre Evans, and some invoices and receipts relating to the publication of his Lloyd Letters... (Aberystwyth, 1908); 'Account of the late Mrs. Lettice Lloyd and Family', transcribed by George Eyre Evans from The Monthly Magazine, 1812, Part I, and published in part in Lloyd Letters, pp. xxiii-xxvi; and an autograph pedigree of the family of Lloyd of Brynllefrith, compiled by John Davies, Aberystwyth in 1908.
The names of almost all the writers of the letters appear in the published list of 'Subscribers' to Lloyd Letters.

Materials relating to ancient monuments,

Two volumes which contain two groups of scrapbooks, eighteen in all, containing materials relating principally to Montgomeryshire and Merionethshire, compiled by George Eyre Evans in 1910 in his capacity of Assistant Inspector to the Royal Commission on Ancient Monuments in Wales and Monmouthshire.
They consist of notes in the autograph of George Eyre Evans, including extracts from the parish registers of Llanidloes, 1616-1747, Llanerfyl, 1670-1783, and Cemmaes, 1733-1812, and a transcript of a part of a journal of a visit by the Reverend Thomas Price, vicar of Merthyr Tydfil, to Dolcoed Wells, Llanwrtyd, 1762; autograph letters to George Eyre Evans from Henry Bonsal, Llanbadarn Fawr, Cardiganshire, J. Luton Unitarian congregation,

A thin parchment manuscript, 1909-1914, entitled 'A Roll of signatures of persons forming the congregation founded in the Good Templars' Hall, Chapel street, Luton, Anno Domini 1909'. Lloyd of Brynllefrith letters,

Transcripts made by George Eyre Evans in 1903 of twenty-eight autograph letters of the family of Lloyd of Brynllefrith, parish of Llanwenog, Cardiganshire. The letters were edited by Evans in Lloyd Letters (1754-1796), being extant letters of David Lloyd, Minister of Llwynrhydowen, Posthumous Lloyd, his Brother; and Charles Lloyd, LL. D., his Son ... (Aberystwyth, 1908).
Also included are press cuttings, including extracts from the letters published by George Eyre Evans, under the pseudonym 'Philip Sidney', in The Welsh Gazette, 9 July 1903; and autograph letters, 1903, to George Eyre Evans from Lucy Theakston, Waterloo, near Liverpool, who formerly owned the original letters, Rees Jenkin Jones, Aberdare and Walter Jenkin Evans, Carmarthen.
