The first part of the manuscript consists of a book of medicine and medicinal recipies in the hand of the Reverend Ellis Wynne of Lasynys. The second part is the Book of William Wynne of Lasynys, rector of Llanaber and Llanfair, comprising a collection of poetry.
The manuscript is in two parts. The first part is of the 15th century and includes memoranda and the ordinances of the church, in Latin; the second part is dated c. 1600 and includes Dares Phrygius and Brut y Brenhinoedd.
Eulogies of and elegies to the Wynne family and their ancestors, transcribed from manuscripts at Brogyntyn (Porkington), Hengwrt, and other collections, [13th February 1835]. There are also two items tipped in and four loose items, including a letter and copies of poems of 'Meurig Ebrill' [Morris Davies]. The date 'Feb 13th 1835' is on the cover. The last 38 pages are blank.
A manuscript in the hand of William Cynwal, written after 24th January 1565, comprising Brut y Brenhinoedd from Cadwaladr to Queen Elizabeth and Brut y Tywysogion from Gwrtheyrn to Gwrthenenau, and other texts. An entry reads: 'Oed Crist pan fu ddrudaniaeth mawr drwy rhan fwya o Gymru 1587'.
The Lucidarius; Ymborth yr Enaid; a text concerning the nine grades of angels; Epoptes; and other texts in the hand of Sir Thomas Wiliems, 1594. There are fragments (two vellum leaves) in Latin from a [?15th century] service book.
Texts giving an account of ancient tribes and divisions and of contemporary counties, and including quotes from ancient itineraries and authorities. On p. iv is the following description: 'Typographical notes from Camden's Britannia in the autograph of Robert Vaughan...amongst them the inscription formerly at Caergai'. On a separate slip is the Latin inscription here mentioned, together with a letter concerning the inscription from Sir John Rhys dated 17th January 1878.
The manuscript is in two parts: the first comprises copies, [first quarter of the 16th century], of petitions in Latin to the Prince and his Council at Kenyngton which were to be laid before Parliament in the reign of either Edward I or Edward III. The second part comprises copies of the letters of Morgan Llwyd and others, dated 1651, in the hand of Robert Vaughan.
Peniarth MS 234i is a collection of pedigrees, with further information, in the hand of Robert Vaughan of Hengwrt. The manuscript has been interleaved with extensive annotations by W. W. E. Wynne of Peniarth. Peniarth MS 234ii is a facsimile copy of the manuscript, made in 1957.
A concordance to the Old and New Testaments by and in the hand of Robert Vaughan. Many slips have been added to the manuscript. Also included is a letter, 8th January 1652, from Ellis Hughes concerning the prosecution of his uncle, the Reverend M. R. Prichard of Mallwyd.
