D.R.P. has added on the cover of 20: 'This Essay was the work of the late Mr Thos. Lloyd. M.E. surveyor to Evans and Bevan's Seven Sisters Collieries. It was intended for inclusion in D. Rhys Phillips History of the Vale of Neath, but had to be omitted at the last moment or lack of room. This copy of the essay is in the hand of D. R. P - and is the only one now extant.'.
