History

The Loyal Sir John Edwards Lodge was established in Corris, Merioneth in 1842. It was registered in 1930 at Shiloh Vestry Room, Corris. Membership declined from 182 in 1918 to 105 in 1931, but membership improved and remained remarkably constant at between 110 and 140 until the 1950s. During and after the 1950s the membership declined rapidly from 125 in 1950 to 64 in 1956, 28 in 1964 and 20 in 1972, the final year of its existence. The lodge amalgamated with the Dovey Lodge as and from 1 Jan. 1972. The lodge was named after a local landowner.
