History

The Llynlleoedd Lodge was established in 1866 and its Juvenile Lodge in 1877. The lodge was registered at the town hall Machynlleth and the Juvenile Lodge at the Llynlleoedd Lodge Room. Llynlleoedd was one the largest lodges within the Gwalia District in 1918 with 303 members. By 1921 its membership had declined to 239, only four less than the largest lodge, Idris. By 1930 Llynlleoedd was the biggest lodge within the District with 180 members. Lodge membership declined rapidly thereafter and by 1959 it had only 24 members. It amalgamated with the Rheidol lodge in Aberystwyth as and from 1 January 1966.
