Biographical history
The de Croy family probably originated in Crouy-Saint-Pierre in Picardie, France, and claimed descent from the kings of Hungary.
Archival history
The manuscripts were apparently acquired by George Thomas Clark, FSA, afterwards of Dowlais and Talygarn, Glamorgan, in Antwerp in 1832 (he visited the city in December, see NLW MS 15003B); he purchased Talygarn in 1865 ('GTC Antwerpia 1832' (ink) and 'Tal-y-Garn' (stamp) inside front cover of each volume).

Scope and content
Six contemporaneous volumes, [1690s], of pedigrees and armorials of royal and noble families of mainland Europe, written in the same hand.
These include French, Burgundian, Hungarian and Dutch heraldry and genealogies. A whole volume (15057B) is devoted to the de Croy family who may have commissioned the work.
