Records deriving from the commutation of the traditional tithes to money payments and the subsequent exaction of the tithe rent charges due on the Gogerddan estate, 1749-1929. The tithe rent was charged on various properties in the townships of Broncastellan, Clarach, Cwmrheidol, Elerch, Faenor Isaf and Uchaf, Isaf-yn-dre and Uchaf-yn-dre, Melindwr, Parsel Canol and Trefeurig in the parish of Lanbadarn Fawr, the townships of Ceulan a Maes-mawr, Cyfoethybrenin, Cynnull Mawr, Henllys and Ysgubor-y-coed in the parish of Llanfihangel Genau’r-glyn, and the parishes of Llanafan, Llangynfelyn and Machynlleth. The contents of the files generally include extracts from the tithe apportionments, lists or schedules of tithes due, routine correspondence, valuations and accounts of the tithes payable to Miss R.C. Chichester [previously part of the possessions of the Abbey of Vale Roya] and to the Earl of Lisburne. for Broncastellan in Court Grange.
