Series GBG1 and vols 351, 356, 378-379, 382, 387 - Gogerddan forestry and timber accounts

Account books and loose accounts for forestry work and timber production on the Gogerddan estate, 1816-1918. The account books record the ash, oak, Scotch firs, larch and other timber sold from the Gogerddan estate at the Park gate, Balltddu, Gumrin, Alltycrib, Lodge Park, Peithill, Dorglwyd, Ffynon Caradog, Troedyrhiwgwine, Cwmbwa, etc., duty on ore from the mines at Darren, Heiodyrynys, Alltycrib, Esgairhir, Cwmsymlog, etc., felling, bark stripping, postage for customers’ letters, and timber used for the estate, 1833-1918. There are also loose accounts, bills and receipts for expenditure in forestry work, fencing, making poles, ditching, bark stripping, carriage, measuring and sales of bark and timber at Tynohir, Machynlleth, Garreg, Cwmcynfelyn, Ffynon Caradog, Lodge Park, Peithyll, Rhosfawr, Tynycae, Pwllglas and elsewhere, in addition to quarry work and other estate tasks, 1816-1905. The series includes a woodward’s return book, 1895-1899. Many of the estate forestry workers and the purchasers of the timber are named.
