Gift of Rodbert, son of Wian, to Margam Abbey, with consent of his lord Margan [son of Caradoc], of his land in the fee of Newcastle, and leasing to the same other land for 6 years from Michaelmas, 1197 which is third Michaelmas after the taking of the Castle of St. Clare by William de Breus', the whole term's rent, 27s. 1d., being paid beforehand. Consent of his brothers Roger and Grifin. Sureties: The lord Margan; Roger and Grifin, brothers of Rodbert; Itell, son of Sans[on]; Gugan, uncle of Rodbert; Rees, son of Meuric; William Kille. Witnesses: William cellarer of Margan; Godfrey the monk, Roger Cole, Brother Jordan, Walter de Lantge'. Latin. Imperfect seal, brown wax, of Morgan, son of Caradoc, as described in No. 87 [1175x1208]. The paper copy of the schedule includes a pedigree.
