File of material on the 19th century poet-preacher Islwyn (William Thomas), 34 ff. [Some of this material was undoubtedly used in the preparation of W. J. Gruffydd's Darlith Goffa Islwyn, 1942, published by Bwrdd Gwasg Prifysgol Cymru, 1942], [?1930s], as follows: ff. 1-6, autograph lecture on Islwyn emphasising his importance as one of the new group of poets which arose in the latter half of the 19th century, appealing to man's intellect rather than to his emotions. In Welsh.; ff. 7-11, typescript carbon copy of a review in Welsh by Dr Iorwerth C. Peate of W. J. Gruffydd's Darlith Goffa Islwyn, 1942. This appeared in Y Cymro vol. 20, no. xi., 1942; ff. 12-21, typescript copy of MS 1.607 Cardiff Public Library, a small notebook containing 65 pp. of handwriting and headed 'Amdden ar Fy Hoff Fardd sef William Thomas Islwyn'. Written by 'Jenkins Baptist Local Preacher', it contains Athan Fardd's recollections of Islwyn. This copy was made by Mr Meurig Walters [cf. Darlith Goffa Islwyn, 1942, p. 7] and has typescript on both sides of each leaf. On f. 21 there appears a note made by Mr Meurig Walters. The whole is in Welsh.; ff. 22-30, autograph essay on Islwyn, dealing largely with his mysticism [cf. Darlith Goffa Islwyn, 1942, pp.13-15]. 2 April 1932.
