  • File
  • 1781-1911 /

A notebook containing memoranda, 1781-1794, of Isaac Lloyd, an excise officer stationed at Pwllheli and later Bangor, mainly relating to his work. They include petitions requesting transfers of duties, examples of summonses and other legal documents, chemical tests for beers, wines and spirits, medical recipes and personal and family memoranda (ff. 1-21, 25-28 verso, 29 verso-31, 40 verso-41, 42 recto-verso, 43 verso-45, 46 recto-verso, inside back cover). The volume was subsequently used to record farming accounts and memoranda, 1803-1809, probably by Thomas Edwards, a farmer in the vicinity of Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, and Church Stoke, Montgomeryshire (ff. 11, 28 verso-29, 32-40, 41-43, 45 verso-46, inside back cover).
Family births and deaths were later recorded in the volume by Edwards and his descendants, the last entry being made in 1911 (ff. 10, 11, 21-24 verso, 28 verso, 41, 44 verso).

Lloyd, Isaac, b. 1756.
