A statement of the expenses of the candidature of Thomas Love Duncombe Jones-Parry in the General Election, 1874.

An account of the disbursements of Thomas Turner, sheriff of the county of Caernarvon at the election of a Member of Parliament for that county, 1874; a case, with the opinion of Henry Jones, on the validity of the course adopted by the returning officer; and a list of members of the Caernarvonshire County Council with the votes cast for each, 1888.

Correspondence of David Thomas, 1907-1929, together with pamphlets, reports and other printed items relating mainly to socialism, the Independent Labour Party, workers' unions, agricultural wages, publication of Y Werin a'i Theyrnas, local committees in North Wales for improvement of social conditions, the Caernarfonshire parliamentary election, 1922, and miscellaneous unspecified subjects; incomplete copies of David Thomas's printed works, articles and parts of his thesis, 1928; account books, [c. 1878]-1910, belonging chiefly to John Williams, Bwlchgwyn, Denbighshire; a small notebook containing literary adjudications in connection with an eisteddfod at Tal-y-sarn, 1908, and translations of six stories from French into Welsh by Morfudd' [Miss H. Jones, Porth] andNehushtan' [N. El. Thomas, Swansea], entered at the Barry National Eisteddfod 1920.

The file comprises miscellaneous papers, 1918-1945, relating to Goronwy Roberts's early life and to members of his family. They include copies of his curriculum vitae and references written in support of his candidatures for posts, papers concerning his early career, and his candidature in Caernarfonshire in the Labour interest in the general election of 1945.

Papers relating to Caernarfonshire elections, including a mandate from the Council of the Marches of Wales instructing the sheriff and JPs to keep the peace during the contentious election of 1620; an agreement by the gentlemen of Caernarfonshire regarding the election of parliamentary representatives for the county and the boroughs, 1708; summaries, cases for opinion and a draft petition concerning illegal procedures in the election for the Caernarfonshire boroughs, when William Owen was a candidate, 1713, and irregularities preceding the county election, [1739]; lists of Caernarfonshire freeholders delivered to the Quarter Sessions, 1732; and a printed election poster canvassing votes for William Ormsby-Gore, 1831.

The group comprises mainly letters written to members of the families related by marriage to Griffith of Garn, such as Hughes of Gwydir, Llwyn Gronw, Cae'r berllan and Weeg, 1713-1823, Roberts of Bryn y neuadd, 1705-1757, and Wynne of Garthmeilio and Plasnewydd, 1793-1831, together with miscellaneous recipients, 1680-1882, mainly on Caernarfonshire and Denbighshire parliamentary elections, church matters, inheritance, debt and domestic affairs.

Seventy holograph and autograph letters, notes, etc., addressed to John Lloyd at Garden Court, London, at Hafodunos near St. Asaph, at Wigfair near St. Asaph and elsewhere, 1770-1812.
They comprise letters, etc., from Cath[erine] Parry, Soughton, Llwynegrin, etc. [17]76-[?1778] (14) (detailed news of herself, the family and acquaintances, and of happenings in the neighbourhood); D[avid] Pennant, Downing, [Flintshire], 1796-1811 and undated (4) (a request for support with regard to [?the parliamentary election in the county of Flint caused by the death of Sir Roger Mostyn, bart., in July 1796], damage to some of Lloyd's scientific instruments, a quotation from one of [William] Bowles's works relating to various types of jars or vases made in parts of Spain with references to the same from other writers, viz. Miscellaneous papers, notes on historical, philosophical, and medical subjects, in several hands, including that of David Williams; a copy of a declaration clearing David Williams of responsibility for writing an anonymous letter, 1769; a draft statement on the policy of admitting colonies to a full participation in the rights of the mother country; notes of proceedings on the motion of an address to the King from the inhabitants of Monmouthshire, 1795; a draft letter to Thomas Pelham, Earl of Chichester; incomplete drafts of statements on the East India Company and on the copper trade, including testimony by John Vivian and Thomas Williams; a statement by Richard Ellis, Llanbeblig, miller, concerning votes for Sir Robert Williams at a Caernarvonshire election; and a memorandum of agreement for letting rooms at Lower Sloane Street to Mary Watkins, 1822.

Personal papers and especially papers relating to the public offices of members of the Wynn family of Gwydir, Caernarfonshire. These include letters and orders from the Privy Council and from Thomas Gerard, Ralph Eure, William, earl of Northampton, etc., as Lords President of the Council of Wales and the Marches to Sir John Wynn, 1st baronet, relating to the government of Caernarfonshire and the mustering of soldiers for various wars. The papers from the reigns of Henry VIII, Edward VI and Mary chiefly relate to preparations for wars in Scotland and France, whilst the papers from the reign of Elizabeth I chiefly relate to preparations for wars in Ireland and against Spain. The archive also includes papers relating to the Civil war and to elections in Caernarfonshire. The archive is an important source for local administration in late sixteeenth and seventeenth century Wales and for the relationship between local and central government. Most of the papers relating to the Gwydir estate for this period have not survived.
