Engraved ticket, [?1785], for a short season of theatrical performances at the Wynnstay Theatre, designed by H[enry] Bunbury and engraved by F[rancesco] Bartolozzi. The line and stipple engraving depicts four figures around a tree, incorporating the titles of the season's plays: 'Venice Preserved', '[The] Confederacy', 'As You Like It', 'The Agreeable Surprise' and '[Harlequin] Invasion'; these were all performed in January 1785 (see NLW MS 23303B, ff. 88-92).
The private theatre had been built in the grounds of the Wynnstay estate in Ruabon, Denbighshire, by Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, 4th bart (1749-1789), at around the time of his coming of age in 1770.
