Personal notebook diaries, dated 1892-1941, 1944, 1947 and 1949, containing information about the author's day to day activities, e.g. places visited (some drawn maps included), the nature of his work, time spent in his library, choir practices and at Church. He also comments on the weather and local and international news (including a number of comments about both world wars). Some very personal entries such as his feelings at his mother's deathbed (April 1922) and his reaction to his friend, Leonard Gantlett's death (July 1927), are included. N.B. No. 133 contains miniature newspapers, Spare Moments and The Globe. No. 252 contains a speech given against smoking at a public meeting.
