Sefydlwyd Cymdeithas Telynau Cymru yn 1962 a'i diddymu yn 1983. Ei nod oedd hybu a datblygu canu'r delyn yng Nghymru trwy ddarparu cyfleusterau atgyweirio a chyflenwi tannau a cherddoriaeth telyn. Trefnwyd hefyd ddigwyddiadau megis Rali Byd y Delyn, 1977. Ymhlith pobl flaenllaw y Gymdeithas yr oedd y trysorydd, H. P. Richards, o Gaerffili, sir Forgannwg, yr ysgrifennydd, Gwennant Gillespie o Aberystwyth, a'r llywydd, Dr E. D. Jones, 1966-[1983].
