Biographical history
Roedd George Howard Peate (1869-1938) yn dad i Iorwerth Peate. Bu'n brentis gyda'i dad cyn symud i Lundain yn 1892, ond dychwelodd i weithio fel saer ac adeiladydd ym mhlwyf Llanbryn-mair pan drawyd ei dad yn wael. Gyda'r dirywiad yn y galw am waith crefftwyr cafodd swydd fel swyddog presenoldeb plant ysgol. Roedd yn ddyn amryddawn; dilynodd ei dad yn ohebydd i'r Faner, gallai ysgrifennu â llaw fer, ac ymddiddorai mewn ffotograffiaeth a chadw gwenyn. Priododd ag Elizabeth Thomas (1872-1948) yn 1897, a chawsant dri o blant: Dafydd Morgan, Iorwerth Cyfeiliog a Morfudd Ann Mary Peate.
