Administrative history
Cefnbryntalch, or Bryntalch, was purchased by Thomas James of Castlewright, Montgomeryshire, from Edward Jones of Bryntalch in 1670. The James family retained possession of the estate until Anne James, daughter in law of Thomas James, sold the premises to George Ellis in 1735. Despite financial difficulties, the Ellis family retained possession of the estate until 1839 at the earliest. Sometime between 1839 and 1870 the estate came into the hands of a Richard Edward Jones. In 1898 the owner was Lumley Owen Williams Jones.
