Beata Brookes (Beata Ann Brooks) (b. 1931) was born in Rhuddlan, Flintshire, and attended Lowther College and University of Wales College, Bangor. She worked as a social worker for Denbighshire County Council and as a TV researcher for HTV, Cardiff. She was involved in charities for the mentally handicapped and health organisations in Clwyd. She was an active Conservative supporter, standing in several parliamentary elections, 1955-1964; she was elected to the European Parliament for the North Wales constituency, 1979-1989, and contested the seat unsuccessfully in 1989. The Conservative Party's North Wales European Constituency Conservative Council supported her in her role as MEP.
