Scope and content
The file contains material relating to the trial of General Nicola Bellomo by the British War Crimes Commission in July 1945, during which Maurice James acted as the official interpreter. The papers include various drafts of the essay 'Portrait of a War Criminal', evidently written later during Maurice James's time at Huddersfield College, [1948x1957], as well as contemporary letters, notes and newspaper cuttings, 1945. The trial was significant for being the first of its kind.
