Scope and content

An album of photographs and autographs, mainly of ecclesiastical dignitaries; and letters, 1850s- 1900s, together with signatures cut from correspondence, largely addressed to the Reverends John Samuel Sidebotham, Henry Sidebotham and Thomas William Sidebotham, from ecclesiastical dignitaries including Randall T. Davidson, Charles Thomas Longley, A. P. Stanley, Archibald Campell Tait and Samuel Wilberforce. Other correspondents include W. Holman Hunt (1) 1874, Charles Kingsley (1) 1868, Francis Turner Palgrave (1) 1861, and Alfred Tennyson (1) 1870. A few of the letters and signatures are tipped into the album; the remainder, many of which were found loose inside the album, have been filed separately (MS 22672B).
